Why Brock Lesnar turning face is best for business

2014 is turning out to be ‘the’ year for Brock Lesnar

He has managed to establish himself as the most successful Paul Heyman guy (Trust me, that is not a small thing), He conquered the two decade long legendary streak of the Undertaker at WrestleMania and after just four months he dismantled a fifteen time WWE champion like it was Yoshi Tatsu.

The Beast is having the best spell of his career in WWE right now and one thing that the company could do to make it better is give him a face turn.

Paul Heyman vs. Stephanie McMahon

War of words or more

It’s a simple equation: If Lesnar turns, he is the top face of the company, and that means he is automatically up against the top heel of the company.

And one must admit that there is nothing more heelish than the Authority right now. Both Stephanie McMahon and Triple H have been the backbone of WWE programing for the past year and Brock Lesnar will be the best opponent they could have.

There is a mouthwatering prospect of Stephanie and Heyman locking horns over the microphone while the fans would ask for no mercy from the Beast when he steps between the ropes to face Hunter.

The lack of a good challenge has started to reduce the momentum of the Authority and they are not going to restore it with Brie Bella. Lesnar could simply turn the tables in his favor with a face turn and it would finally give the fans a moment to cherish as the Authority will be knocked back to where they belong.

Refreshing change for the Beast

The Face smiles

WWE might not be acknowledging the line between faces and heel now but Vince McMahon knows pretty well that it’s the Good vs. Evil basics around which the whole mainstream professional wrestling business is built up.

Lesnar has been a heel for nearly a decade now and though the fans are accepting him with warmly, the promos that Heyman pulls off belong to a heel on any day. Unlike the typical heels, Lesnar is not using dirty tricks to get a win but there is an aura of arrogance around him which stamps him alongside the bad guys.

If the company decides to turn him heel, it would be something that has been in the background for a whole decade. A lot of the success that Cena has achieved over the years in terms of popularity and merchandise sales is mainly because of his face run.

Lesnar has all the charisma to fill in the void and refresh his character before it ends up being something without a pinch of versatility.

A new array of opponents

The possibilities are many

The first opponent that Lesnar could have after turning heel might be Triple H as mentioned earlier. However, once that is over, the creative team would be left with some more exciting choices in their hand.

First of all there is Randy Orton who despite having a bad run is capable of running a top program. Orton could dig out his legend killer gimmick from the past and have a good feud with Lesnar which will put the Viper back on the map. Bray Wyatt is another prospective opponent for Lesnar. No one would vote against a match between the two and a war of words between Heyman and Bray.

Seth Rollins and his briefcase will provide the next compelling angle that might make a lot of sense as he will be backed by the authority. After the feud that he is having with Ambrose, Rollins would be on a wave of heel momentum eager to wipe out something.

And then comes the best thing that could happen: a heel turn from Cena. One of the reasons why WWE is not letting Cena turn heel is his status as the ‘face’ of the company. Now that Lesnar can fill in that role, Cena would be free to turn heel and do something meaningful.

Heyman also acknowledged that he would love to have Cena as a ‘Paul Heyman’ guy in the future, so who knows, maybe Lesnar and Cena can swap places for giving the WWE universe what they want.
