On Sunday at WWE Payback Charlotte will face the Number 1 contender Natalya in a bout that most likely be just another one by tomorrow.
These ladies have put on great matches everytime they have faced each other and with Ric Flair and Bret Hart at ringside, the match will surely be one to watch. But I think what’s best for the women’s division is for Charlotte to drop the title to Natalya, if only for a month.
A lot of people have grown tired of Charlotte’s reign and this could easily turn a lot of people away from the division that has more momentum than ever. It could also seriously hurt Charlotte as there are reports of people at live shows chanting ‘Charlotte sucks’ and ‘You are boring’.
The current rumour is that WWE plans to have Sasha Banks win the title from Charlotte at Summerslam, with Charlotte defending the title against Natalya at the next two PPVs.
By that point the Charlotte vs Natalya feud will have grown very old unless we see a title change. Or two.
Charlotte losing the title to Natalya would keep the feud interesting and Charlotte could get her rematch at Extreme Rules; winning back her championship. Not only would this brighten up the dull feud but it would also give Natalya a nice run with the belt (even if it’s short) which she deserves.
However, we all how WWE works and that probably won’t happen. Charlotte will most likely retain with help from Ric and we will have to wait another few months to see something interesting.
