Why WWE should book Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman for WrestleMania 33

Strowman dismantled Reigns and Rollins on the December 19 episode of Monday Night RAW

The last pay per view of the year is done and dusted as we head full steam into 2017 and into the Royal Rumble. The first pay per view of 2017, Royal Rumble, will launch the WWE Universe on to the road to WrestleMania and will be the starting point of new rivalries and storylines.

With what has been happening in the WWE over the past couple of weeks, a match between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman at WrestleMania does look like a viable option for the WWE creative to explore.

In a clash of titans at Mania, Roman would, in fact, be the one who would be physically inferior to Strowman whose towering frame and intimidating aura is enough to strike fear into the hearts of any opponent.

Add to that the prestigious US title stipulation and we’ve got a brawl in our hands - again, not a wrestling match, but a brawl.

Here’s a video of the last time the Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman clashed in singles competition:

A fight against a more dominating rival might just be what Roman needs. Whenever Reigns takes to the ring, he is a favourite but with Strowman at the other corner, things might be a little different.

Men like Daniel Bryan and Rey Mysterio made their careers out of fighting more dominating men. What’s to say that Roman can’t do the same in this scenario? If you want the crowd to cheer for Roman, you have to tip the odds against his favour.

The 19th December episode of Monday Night RAW proved that Strowman is now ready for greener pastures. He laid waste to Titus O’ Neil and Sin Cara before interfering and disrupting the tag team main event between JeriKO, Rollins and Reigns.

Strowman walked down to the ring and took out Roman at ringside causing the disqualification. He then knocked Seth Rollins out cold before turning his attention back to Roman.

The show ended with Strowman standing tall over the unconscious bodies of Rollins and Reigns. In the midst of all this destruction, Strowman had just made a statement, “Everyone will fall”. The night will definitely go down in history as Strowman’s Night of Destruction.

The following video shows Braun Strowman decimating Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins on RAW:

Braun Strowman has been a revelation over the past few weeks. After starting out as a henchman for Bray Wyatt, Strowman came to his own after being split from his Wyatt family members.

Strowman was drafted to Monday Night RAW in the brand split and has been the most dominant force on the RAW roster since then. Benefitting from the draft, Strowman launched his singles career without being overshadowed by the eccentrically charismatic Bray Wyatt.

WWE creative pushed Strowman to the stars on the back of numerous squash matches where he decimated his opponents in a matter of seconds. Even the likes of Sin Cara and Sami Zayn could not survive the wrath of Strowman. This run of dominance has earned Strowman the moniker of ‘The New face of Destruction’.

Even his in-ring work has improved by leaps and bounds since his debut. There were several rumours suggesting that Strowman might have worked a match with the Undertaker at WrestleMania 32 but those plans were scrapped shortly afterwards due to the vehement outcry from the WWE Universe.

Moreover, Strowman was seen as a man who could not work a classic match with The Phenom at the ‘Grandest Stage of them All’ at that time.

Coming off of Roadblock: End of the Line, Strowman has morphed himself into a monster. In fact, if he wished, he could have done away with Zayn a couple of minutes into the match.

Here’s a clip from the said match:

A quick and effective decimation would make Sami Zayn look pathetic and maybe that’s why WWE creative gave Zayn some breathing space in the match that was otherwise dominated by Strowman.

Roman, on the other hand, is firmly holding on to the United States title for the time being and a program with Strowman could work wonders for ‘The Guy’.

Like him or not, Roman is a pretty decent in-ring worker and has put on some good matches in 2016 with the likes of AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Rusev and Kevin Owens. Some might argue that he was carried by an AJ Styles or a Kevin Owens for most of these matches, but it does take ‘two to tango’.

So with WrestleMania 33 coming up in a few months, a match between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman Could really light up the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.
