5 possible replacements for Mick Foley as Raw GM

At some point, WWE will replace Mick Foley as GM. Who will follow him?

Do we really think the union between Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley will last past Survivor Series? While great storylines make strange bedfellows (metaphorically speaking), the combination of “Mr. Have a Nice Day” and the villainous co-owner of WWE working together on Monday Night Raw looks as awkward as Kane and Lita in a romantic program.

It should be no surprise that Foley would be the odd man out should it get a bit heated over creative differences, after all – the McMahon way is the only way.

Foley has served as general manager before for the company that helped make him a cult-like icon and one of the most popular babyfaces to ever step in the ring. While he could be a brilliant addition to the company in terms of making new and exciting matches, the idea he and his “co-worker” coexisting just makes no sense.

As we all know, once the McMahons get their fill of an employee, the only thing left is to be told in Vinnie Mac style – “You’re Fired!” Who replaces the former WWE World Champion is anyone’s guess. But in the interest of this piece, here are five potential candidates to replace Foley.

5: Triple H

Triple H is the odds on favorite to replace Foley on the hot seat

The most logical choice of them all. The King of Kings has been the driving force behind the success of NXT and has been an integral part of WWE programming since he became the COO of the corporation.

Triple H’s return to television opens the doors for many potential feuds – one of which is with Dean Ambrose if he ever becomes a babyface.

There is little chance of the husband of Stephanie McMahon getting back in the ring anytime soon as a full-time wrestler, but it could be something that happens by the end of the year in a feud with Shane McMahon would be a WWE fan’s dream.

4: Corporate Kane

Kane has served as RAW’s GM before. Could he fulfill the position again?

The former GM of Raw could assume the role again. Regardless of the fact Kane is now appearing on Smackdown, don’t be surprised if he jumps to the red team and assumes the same role. A feud with Mick Foley might be worth something to all of us older fans who remember both superstars in their prime.

Kane doesn’t have a true place in WWE for now. As a veteran who holds a roster spot, he serves as a bridge between the past and the future. As of right now, he gets in the ring and competes and jobs most of the time to up and coming talent.

In the role of an executive, he serves a better purpose.

3: Steve Austin

Steve Austin on Raw would certainly be exciting GM.

Give me a “Hell Yeah”! If WWE wants to see what happens with ratings, how about throwing in a little “Stone Cold” on a weekly basis? If there is a charismatic figure would be a solid opponent of the McMahon regime and could still keep Raw and its ratings on the rise, then hire the Texas Rattlesnake.

Can you imagine how a conversation would go if he and Stephanie butt heads over creative differences? It could be epic!

Austin will never get in the ring again, but WWE could certainly capitalize on his popularity and the Stone Cold podcast. And that’s the bottom line – because this writer said so.

2: Jim Ross

Jim Ross could bring an interesting and insightful look as the new GM

Good Ol’ JR. There have been rumors in the past that Ross may eventually return to the company, but as a commentator is not the way to take advantage of one of the best voices in the business.

Since Ross was solid behind the scenes with talent promotion, would he be able to work with the McMahons once again? How would the fans take to him and his sometimes deadpan delivery? Ross is an icon in this business, and it would be interesting to see what he can do other than delivering a great story about a match.

1: Kurt Angle

This may be the best way for Kurt Angle to come back to WWE.

Oh it’s true! This could be a great thing for WWE.

We saw what happens Angle works as the head man on TNA. It was fairly successful. And if there is any issues with wrestlers disagreeing with him over creativity, there is a distinct possibility he would get in the ring to work things out.
