5 superstars who could clinch the last spot in the MITB ladder match

Cena could surprise everyone

The Money in the Bank pay-per-view is just weeks away and the best part about the show will obviously be the ladder match for the Money in the Bank briefcase. The Money in the Bank briefcase is something that guarantees to change the career of the superstar who wins it.

So far, WWE has filled six spots for the match with names like Sami Zayn, Dean Ambrose, Kevin Owens, Cesaro, Chris Jericho and Alberto Del Rio featured. One more spot is up for grabs in the coming week and it would be interesting to see how WWE picks for the same. Here are some of the potential names that could feature in the plans.

#5 Baron Corbin

Corbin needs a spot

Baron Corbin’s main roster run has been going solid so far. He came in by winning the Andre the Giant Battle royal and then went on to feud with Dolph Ziggler. He did appear in the last two pay-per-views that WWE put up and it would only be fitting to give him a solid spot at Money in the Bank as well.

Corbin is a superstar that relies on strong game and not the high flying style which is usually preferred for such matches. But mixing up things a bit won’t hurt anyone and Corbin in the match would add a good subplot. Also, he gets to share the limelight with superstars who have already qualified.

#4 Kalisto

Kalisto

As mentioned in the last slide, WWE usually prefers superstars with high-flying style for the ladder matches. And Kalisto is hands down the best high-flier they have in their current roster. We all know how good Kalisto is when it comes to ladder matches and he would not back down from doing the same if given another chance.

Kalisto might not be seen as a potential winner if he is indeed given the final spot, but his involvement in the match will help it in its journey towards being a potential Match of the year contender. If not Kalisto, Sin Cara is another potential Lucha star who could get the pick.

#3 Darren Young

Young could use the push

Darren Young recently came back into relevance thanks to his association with Bob Buckland. The legendary Buckland came back on board with WWE to kick of the new ‘Make Darren Young Great Again’ campaign and it has been good so far. However, it is time for WWE top step up their game and they could do this by letting Darren Young into the Money in the Bank match.

Having Young in between the names like Jericho, Owens, Zayn, Ambrose, Del Rio and Cesaro would be an interesting affair as he rarely gets to rub shoulders with these guys in the ring. Also, it would help WWE to position him pretty well ahead of the brand split.

#2 Neville

A risk?

Neville has been away from the WWE programming due to injury. He fractured his ankle during a match with Chris Jericho back in March, and he was expected to be out for just two months. The time frame is up right now and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he returns to the WWE programming by being a part of the Money in the Bank match.

Neville is also a high-flier when it comes to styles and he could pull off some spots that would make the jaws drops. The question, however is: Would WWE risk Neville in such a high-risk match upon his return from one serious injury.

# 1 John Cena

Will he?

The Cenation leader is all set to make his return this week on Monday Night Raw. He has been out of action for a long time now and we still don’t know what WWE has in plans for his return. Making him the last Money in the bank entrant would make a lot of sense.

Cena has only won the Money in the Bank match once and that too, he ended up becoming the first superstar who could not cash in successfully. It would be something he will like to change and Cena winning it opens up the possibility of a Cena vs. Reigns feud in the future. The concern would be regarding Cena’s health as he will be returning from an injury and put into a dangerous match like this.
