5 things Brock Lesnar wants you to forget about his career

Orton didn’t back away from sniping at Brock’s failed drug test

Brock Lesnar will return to the WWE at Summerslam when he takes on Randy Orton. The event will see the first PPV meeting between the former OVW classmates and it is touted to be a classic.

It would be the F-5 going against the RKO and a huge cloud will hang over the match owing to Lesnar's doping violation. Orton has already played it up with his ‘No enhancements needed’ comment during his Battleground promo.

Let us take a look at the five infamous episodes which Brock Lesnar wants his fans to forget.

1. NFL failure

Option A was a dead end

Brock Lesnar left the WWE in 2004 in order to pursue a career in the NFL, but the Minnesota Vikings refused to sign Lesnar on a permanent basis despite him working out with the team. A groin injury also dashed his hopes of making it big in the NFL.

Lesnar did get an invitation to play for the Vikings in NFL Europa but he declined as he wanted to stay in the United States with his family.

He returned to wrestling soon after getting cut from the NFL.

2. Losing his UFC debut

He would go on to avenge the loss

Lesnar might be billed as the only man to win the WWE and UFC world titles, but his time in the Octagon did not start on a bright note.

Lesnar made his debut at UFC 81 against former UFC Champion Frank Mir. Lesnar secured multiple takedowns on Mir, but the wily veteran countered immediately following a Lesnar takedown and locked in a kneebar. Brock had no option but to tap out.

Lesnar actually got beat in 1:30 of the first round.

3. Addictions

Not the first substance-related scandal he’s been involved in

Lesnar developed addictions to both addictions and painkillers during his initial run in the WWE. Lesnar used to drink a bottle of vodka per day and became addicted to Vicodin as well.

His infamous WrestleMania X1X ‘Shooting Star Press’ Botch also accelerated his addiction. He has also stated that due to mental exhaustion and addiction, he doesn’t remember ‘an entire two years’ of his WWE career.

Also in 2001, Lesnar was actually arrested by Louisville police for suspicion of possessing large amounts of anabolic steroids – he was cleared later, though.

4. First WWE farewell

He jobbed to Goldberg before heading out

Brock’s first WWE run ended at WrestleMania XX in an infamous match against Goldberg. News had leaked that both Goldberg and Lesnar were set to leave the company after the night and the fans proceeded to boo both of them, essentially ruining the match.

Lesnar played the heel and eventually saw Goldberg beating him with a Jackhammer and then proceeded to get a Stone Cold Stunner from special guest referee Steve Austin as well.

Not a great way to leave the WWE.

5. Failed Drug test

He actually criticized Jon Jones for failing a drug test, when both tested positive for the same substance

Finally, the elephant in the room.

Days after his triumphant return to the Octagon against Mark Hunt, it was revealed that he had tested positive for clomiphene. Clomiphene, when taken by men, helps in boosting testosterone production.

Lesnar recently had his B sample tested positive and the UFC may be forced to ban Lesnar for 2 years, as per the USADA rules. However, the WWE has stated that they would not punish Lesnar owing to the fact that he is a ‘part time’ performer and such athletes do not fall under the WWE Wellness Policy.
