WWE Rumours: WWE doing a Women's tournament similar to Cruiserweight Classic

Will WWE do a Women’s tournament without a championship prize at the end?

Due to the success of the CWC, it is being reported that WWE is now in the works of having a similar style tournament, this time, an all women's tournament. This will be extremely interesting to watch, as it will bring in some of the world’s best female talent to the front, and give several talented women exposure, and several of them WWE contracts.

It is being said that the tournament could even take place as early as the first quarter of 2017. There is no better time to have such a competition than now, where the Women's revolution is taking place.

Naturally, there can't be a belt like there was in the CWC as Raw, Smackdown Live and NXT have their own women's championship. Perhaps the winner of this tournament could get a direct shot at the NXT Women's Championship. Whatever it is, trust WWE to pull off a great tournament if this happens.

The Cruiserweight Classic series exclusive to the WWE Network has been such a tremendous success. There was buzz even months before the tournament, as the speculation was on what names would show up. And as it turned out, it did not disappoint.

Names such as Zack Sabre Jr., Kota Ibushi, Drew Gulak, TJ Perkins, Cedric Alexander, Jack Gallagher, Akira Tozawa, among others only fueled the excitement, as these are some of the hottest names in the independent circuit, and wrestling world in general outside the WWE.

It was quite obvious, however, that the winner would definitely be someone who was signing a contract with the WWE. Fortunately enough, many names from the stacked Cruiserweight Classic competitors list would be part of the Raw cruiserweight division. Each week, new names were being announced. Names such as Johnny Gargano, Cedric Alexander, Noam Dar, Gran Metalik, TJ Perkins(the Cruiserweight Champion), Jack Gallagher, Akira Tozawa, Rich Swann are all going to be part of the newest division on Monday Night Raw.

And unsurprisingly, it already looks to become the hottest and the best part of Monday Night Raw. Smackdown Live has been garnering far more interest than Raw in the past few weeks, and the Cruiserweight Division could be something to save Raw, much like how WCW’ s Cruiserweight division garnered so much interest back in the day with the likes of Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Rey Mysterio, etc.
