WWE Live Event Results: Mexico City, Mexico (3rd December 2016); Brock Lesnar vs Rusev

Brock Lesnar squashed Rusev in a few minutes

WWE held its much awaited live event in Mexico City, Mexico on 3rd December 2016 which featured Brock Lesnar's highly anticipated return to the ring after his crushing loss to Goldberg at Survivor Series last month. The show also featured three title fights and a return for the fan-favourite diva, Emmalina.

Brock Lesnar’s appearances have always been a talking point in the wrestling world, even if it for a non-televised live event. The Beast Incarnate suffered a shocking loss in under two minutes against Goldberg last month and the WWE Universe was anxious to see how Lesnar would bounce back from his defeat.

Lesnar returned to the ring against the Bulgarian Brute, Rusev, and as expected, Brock dominated the match and registered a victory over the Super-Athlete in just a few minutes. Lesnar delivered four suplexes and an F5 to squash Rusev uncompromisingly.

#1 New Day (Champions) vs. Enzo and Big Cass vs. Anderson and Gallows vs. Cesaro and Sheamus (Tag Team Championship Match)

The show kicked off with the New Day defending the tag-team titles against Enzo and Big Cass, The Club and the team of Cesaro and Sheamus. The New Day managed to retain their titles in the opener for the night.

Result: The New Day retain their tag team titles


#2 Neville vs. Bo Dallas

Neville defeated Bo Dallas. Neville pinned Bo Dallas after hitting him with a Red Arrow.

After the loss, Bo Dallas demanded another competitor and the challenge was responded by The Big Show who defeated Bo Dallas in just under a minute and a half.

Result: Neville defeated Bo Dallas, Big Show defeated Bo Dallas


#3 Emma and Dana Brooke vs. Alicia Fox and Bayley

Emma returned to team up with Dana Brooke to square off against Alicia Fox and Bayley. Fox and Bayley defeated Emma and Dana Brooke.

Result: Alicia Fox and Bayley defeated Emma and Dana Brooke


#4 Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho

Prior to the match, Chris Jericho came down to the ring clutching The List. He delivered a promo against Seth Rollins. Jericho also refused to add the Mexican crowd to the list.

The match between the two thus began. Chris Jericho managed to get a substantial amount of offense on Rollins but Rollins avoided a flying axehandle by Jericho, hit him with a pedigree and got the win via pinfall.

Result: Seth Rollins defeated Chris Jericho


#5 Brock Lesnar (with Paul Heyman) vs. Rusev (with Lana)

Rusev and Brock Lesnar squared off accompanied by their respective managers. The match wasn't a total squash as Rusev was able to beat down Brock Lesnar quite a bit before Brock Lesnar finally made it back to his feet and suplexed Rusev.

Brock Lesnar then went on to connect a further three Suplexes, taking the Bulgarian Brute to the Suplex city, before connecting an F5 to finish Rusev off for good.

Result: Brock Lesnar defeated Rusev via Pinfall


#6 Sasha Banks (champion) vs. Charlotte (Women’s Championship match)

A hard fought match that saw Charlotte and Sasha banks both gain the momentum during separate stages of the match. Sasha was at her acrobatic best, connecting with a flurry of clotheslines and a dropkick on Charlotte to swing the momentum her way. The two women also got into an exchange of chops in the middle of the ring.

Sasha eventually came out on top and defeated Charlotte with a Banks Statement and retained her title.

Result: Sasha Banks defeated Charlotte


#7 Sin Cara, Sami Zayn and Golden Truth (R-Truth and Goldust) vs. The Shining Stars (Primo and Epico), Titus O’Neil and Curtis Axel

Sin Cara entered the arena to a cheering crowd. Being from Mexico himself, Sin Cara’s home town welcome was deafening. He teamed up with Sami Zayn and Golden Truth to take on Shining Stars, Titus O’Neil and Curtis Axel.

During the match, the spotlight was on Sin Cara himself as he connected with a barrage of high flying moves on his opponents. Sami Zayn ended up getting the win for his team.

Result: Sin Cara, Sami Zayn and Golden Truth defeated Shining Stars, Titus O’Neil and Curtis Axel


#8 Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens (United States Championship match)

Roman Reigns retained the US title by defeating the WWE Universal Champion, Kevin Owens. The match wasn't a long or very hard fought one. Reigns continued getting booed throughout but emerged victorious at the end to retain his United States title.

Result: Roman Reigns defeated Kevin Owens
