WWE Monday Night Raw Preview: 23 May 2016

Save us

It would be safe to say that Extreme Rules fell well beyond the marker for expectations. The show had almost everything that a regular fan expected and WWE deserves credit for booking it smartly.

The huge return of Seth Rollins was THE talking point of the show while the excellent matches for the WWE Championship and the Intercontinental Championship also gave us goosebumps.

As always, it is now time to look ahead and see what all WWE has planned for the next show, which is Money in the Bank. The latest edition of Monday Night Raw will have a lot of answers regarding what went down at Extreme Rules and here is the complete preview of the show.

Extreme Men

What next?

Chris Jericho and Dean Ambrose faced off in the first-ever Asylum match at Extreme Rules. While the match did confuse a lot of fans, the finale did make up for problems and in the end, we were left with a question on whether Ambrose and Jericho are going to continue this feud. They have pretty much burned out the storyline and it would not make sense to continue.

However, WWE might be tempted to have one more match in this feud as both Jericho and Ambrose have the capability of delivering classics when called upon. The future plans for these two would be clear once Raw kicks off but if WWE decides to rest these two, it wouldn’t be a surprise.

Target on his back?

Almost all of WWE’s championships were up for grabs at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view but the only title that changed hands was the United State Championship. Rusev took home the title from Kalisto after a good match and it marked another title reign for the Bulgarian Brute. The question now will be regarding the future of Rusev.

There were rumors about John Cena winning the United States Championship upon his return, if this is indeed the case, then we could see a Cena vs. Rusev feud. But that would be a bad news for Rusev as he will get no time whatsoever to settle after his title win.

The blonde association

Screwed again

Ric Flair was banned from ringside at Extreme Rules but Dana Brooke wasn’t. With Emma out injured Dana was in need of a new angle and as WWE was high on her, they decided to pair her up with the hottest heel in the Women’s division, Charlotte.

The association of Charlotte and Dana had a great starting platform at the expense of Natalya and with the right push, these this could be a successful outing for everyone. Natalya being screwed again makes her more lovable and it would be interesting to see Natalya lock horns with Dana. Also, Becky has some unfinished business which needs to be sorted out soon.

The future of AJ Styles

The sad hero

The biggest talking point that came out of Extreme Rules was the return of Seth Rollins. The return of Rollins got everyone talking but at the same time, it overshadowed AJ Styles. Styles delivered a master class alongside Roman Reigns last night and with Rollins returning to the scene, the future of AJ Styles hands in the balance.

AJ deserves a lot after his feud with Roman Reigns and instead of just pushing aside AJ, WWE should find a new path which lets him shine. A three-way battle for the WWE championship is also possible as the fans will drool by the prospect of seeing AJ Styles vs. Seth Rollins.

Save us Rollins

save us

As mentioned earlier, the biggest news of last night was the return of Seth Rollins. Rollins returned to reclaim what was rightfully his and we can expect a full blown feud between Rollins and Reigns from this point onwards. Unlike the last time around, Rollins will not probably have the backing of Authority this time around and it is going to be a problem.

Shane McMahon and Stephanie McMahon are currently playing babyfaces at this moment and Seth is technically a heel performer even though he got a hero’s welcome. So in short, it is an interesting dilemma in the main event scene.
