WWE Monday Night Raw report: October 20, 2014 - Mick Foley returns, Handicap Street fight

Mick Foley returned to Raw

WWE Monday Night Raw was live from Kansas City this week as the final show before the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view saw the return of Hardcore legend Mick Foley while John Cena team up with Dean Ambrose against The Authority in the main event. Intercontinental champion Dolph Ziggler was also in action against the no.1 contender Cesaro and Rusev’s anti-American segment was interrupted by a US soldier.

The Authority opens the show, Paige interrupts in AJ Lee’s match

Triple H along with Randy Orton, Seth Rollins and Kane made their way towards the ring and hyped the Handicap Street Fight main event. He also says that Hell In A Cell will be the decider for both Cena vs Orton and Rollins vs Ambrose rivalries. After some words from Orton and Rollins, Hunter announces that the winner of Cena and Orton’s match will get a title shot at the WWE Heavyweight title.

AJ Lee was involved in a singles match with Alicia Fox which saw distraction in the form of Paige as she assaulted the Divas champion at ringside and helped Alicia to pin her opponent.

Rusev and Big Show’s American-Russian showdown

After Rusev defeated Big E via the Accolade, Lana takes a shot at the Big Show labelling him as a coward who will fail his nation at Hell In A Cell. Big Show appears on the Titantron and makes the American flag drop down instead and Stars & Stripes Forever plays. Rusev goes to rip down the American flag but a US soldier rushes the ring. Security meets him and tries to hold him back but Rusev drops the guy with a big kick to the face.

The incident forced an angry Big Show to appear in the ring. Show calls out Rusev for a fight but the Belgian Brute doesn’t show up amongst the fans who were chanting USA. Show heads backstage in search of him and even kicks down the door of Rusev’s room but finds it empty and just stands there.

Mick Foley interrupts Ambrose and Rollins to pay visit to an old friend

Dean Ambrose cut a weird promo where he slaughters a Rollins dummy prompting Mr. Money In The Bank to come out with Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble. Rollins knocks Ambrose’s bad comedy and takes a dig at the crowd. As he enters the ring bragging about himself, Foley’s music hits and outcomes the Hardcore legend to a huge pop.

Foley says that he came by to visit an old friend and then praises them both. Rollins insults Foley calling him a dinosaur who has an obsession with Santa Claus.Foley gets loud now and talks about the Hell match with The Undertaker 18 years ago. Fans chant “thank you Foley.” Ambrose shows Foley respect but says he isn’t worried about what might happen in the Cell.

Ambrose says people backstage don’t get him but Foley can probably look in his eyes and know he’s ready. Ambrose says Rollins will be waking up in a hospital bed Monday morning. Ambrose drops the mic. Rollins says they’re both crazy and out of their minds. Foley warns them about the Cell some more and gets a cheap pop from the Kansas City crowd.

Foley ends it by telling them to have a nice day and leaves as his music plays. Ambrose throws his arms up to Rollins. Ambrose ends up tossing Rollins into the stooges on the floor.

Hulk Hogan backstage, John Cena and Dean Ambrose come up short in main event against The Authority

Hulk Hogan was backstage with Renee Young as he was interviewed in the post-show. In the main event, Cena and Ambrose were defeated in a 3 on 2 Street Fight Handicap match after Orton hit the RKO on Ambrose and pinned him for the win. Ambrose unloaded on his opponents from the start ad easiy stole the show but came up short against the Authority.
