WWE News: AJ Styles injured at TLC, Dean Ambrose's status unclear

AJ Styles successfully retained his title at TLC.

Smackdown Live’s exclusive pay-per-view saw AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose battle it out in a TLC match for the WWE Championship. Both these men showed their hardcore sides after putting their body through hell in several spots to give the fans their money’s worth.

According to wrestlinginc.com, the champion AJ Styles may have suffered an injury at the event. After retaining the title over Ambrose, Styles celebrated until the show was broadcasting, after the PPV concluded, Styles fell down to the mat which brought the arrival of a trainer at the scene to check up on Styles.

Yet another trainee who arrived focused his attention on Ambrose who was put through two tables from the top of the ladder in an insane spot in the end.

Styles was seen complaining about his right foot and was trying hard to move it around, Styles ultimately walked out on his own, limping his way to the backstage, as fans gave him a well deserved standing ovation.

As far as Ambrose is concerned, he was taken to the back by trainers and no official word has come off yet regarding his injury.

There were broken tables, ladders and chairs everywhere after these two men gave several risky yet memorable spots such as the flying elbow from the top, the springboard 450 splash to the tables set outside and the crazy bump by Ambrose to end it all.

Regarding the injury of AJ Styles, Dave Meltzer is reporting that the champion has suffered a “minor ankle injury” and this might put his eventual title match against Ellsworth in jeopardy. It seems most likely that the match will get cancelled in order to give Styles time to heal.

WWE will breathe a sigh of relief as the injury of Styles is not major. Styles has been one of the top performers this year, although his current direction might make the title picture rushed as Styles has to go through two programs with James Ellsworth as well as (reportedly) The Undertaker till Royal Rumble.

If Styles ends up being put in a program with “The Phenom”, his program with Ellsworth will be no more than a one match deal, as the WWE need time to build up one of the dream matches in Styles vs The Undertaker.

AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose delivered one of the best matches of the year at TLC, we hope that they get well soon and return to Smackdown soon, as the place will not be the same without them.
