Suspended for 30 days

WWE have announced that Alberto Del Rio has been suspended for 30 days following his failure to comply with the company’s wellness policy. Del Rio is the 2nd WWE Star to be suspended for this violation in recent times with the other one being Roman Reigns.

WWE’s statement read:

WWE has suspended Jose Rodriguez (Alberto Del Rio) for 30 days effective tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 18, for his first violation of the company’s talent wellness policy.

The Mexican was involved in a match up against John Cena at SmackDown LIVE last night. He’s not been booked for SummerSlam so it won’t be having much effect on the pay-per-view that takes place this Sunday.

This suspension comes amidst rumors that both Del Rio is unhappy with his run with the company. This is his 2nd run with the company after being released for getting physical with a front end office employee.

WWE are also said to be unhappy with the Mexican and rumours suggested that both parties were looking to part ways. The officials are said to be unhappy with his open relationship with WWE star, Paige. The 24-year-old British has been very active on social media with photos of the two posted regularly.

The couple were said to be furious when the company drafted them into 2 separate brands. Del Rio was sent to SmackDown LIVE while Paige was taken by RAW. While Paige is currently out injured, Del Rio has been in action week-in-week-out.

The Mexican was brought back in October 2015 and he went on to win the US Title on his first day back. He had defeated John Cena at Hell in a Cell to claim the title. Ever since he lost the title to Kalisto, Del Rio has not ben given much of a push and he's said to be unhappy with the storyline he's given.

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, Alberto Del Rio had revealed that he wanted to win the Intercontinental Championship before leaving the company. “ I want to become champion one more time and there is one more title I would need to win in WWE to say, “I have won all the titles you have to win in this company” which is the Intercontinental title.” said Del Rio. The interview took place while the Mexican was in India to promote WWE 2K17 during the month of June.

Looks like this dream of his might not be fulfilled as The Miz is in no mood to give away his championship but is facing Apollo Crews this Sunday at SummerSlam.
