WWE recently posted a video of Hollywood star and former World Heavyweight Champion Dave Batista which was shooted prior to Royal Rumble 2014 while promoting Batista - The Animal Unleashed on WWE Network.
In the video below The Animal revealed some interesting insights about his WWE return. According to him the reason behind his WWE return was to win the unified WWE World Heavyweight Championship:
"The biggest reason for me to come back is just that I've always wanted to be undisputed heavyweight champ, After I became heavyweight champ multiple times, [it's like] where do I go from here,
“There's not many places I can go being at the top. I could take that next step up and just be undisputed heavyweight champ. That was the only place to go, and it's been my goal for years and years."
It's notable here that in an interview given in June, the former WWE Superstar criticized the way WWE booked him on his WWE return and claimed he originally wanted to debut as a heel.
Batista made his WWE return back in 2014 as a face and was in contention for the main event soon after by winning the 2014 edition of WWE Royal Rumble. However, his return wasn't accepted the way WWE expected and fans quickly turned on the former World champion.
He later turned heel but couldn't leave any mark on the minds of WWE fans and left WWE once again after a 6-month long run with the company.
Following the Brand Split, WWE has teased the return of numerous superstars with some of them having already made their return to either SmackDown Live! or Raw. With WWE Network releasing the footage after more than 2 years, is this a sign of things to come? If yes, then which brand will Batista join should he make his WWE return in the near future?
