WWE News: Big Show's retirement match to take place at Wrestlemania 33?

The Big Show is one of the longest serving members on the WWE roster.

Big Show has had one hell of a career that has been 21 long years. He joined the WWE in 1999 and has been loyal ever since, just leaving for a small gap between 2007-08. Apart from that, Big Show, like his fellow giant Wrestler Kane, have had immensely long tenures and have done everything that the company asked and have constantly put over people. Big Show is often the butt of jokes for the number of times he has turned face and heel.

However, despite all the jokes, The Big Show is a veteran in the WWE and is very well respected backstage among his peers and WWE officials. He was a heavily featured performer until Wrestlemania 32, where he had a face off with Shaquille O’ Neal in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal(which was won by Baron Corbin). Both the NBA legend and the WWE veteran were quickly eliminated by all the performers in the ring. After that, Big Show and Shaquille O’ Neal shook hands, but it looks like it wasn’t the end of their feud. From then onwards, they started talking about their desire to face each other at Wrestlemania 33 next year in Orlando. After Wrestlemania 32, there were some major shake-ups in the way things worked on WWE programming. WWE started advertising it as The New Era. This New Era saw several NXT stars called up, and higher prominence and the importance of younger, fresher talent. The only veteran that appears to fit the mix of this is Chris Jericho, who continues to be featured and continues to excel. The New Era meant that The Big Show would be getting increasingly less time on WWE television, and The Giant is perfectly fine with that. He spoke with 790 The Ticket in Miami and doubled down on comments that he’s winding up his career soon. Show said that this year will be his last with WWE.Big Show noted that he feels better now at forty-four than he did at thirty-four and wants to be in the best shape he can for his match with Shaquille O’Neal at WrestleMania 33.In a previous interview, he said that he feels that he has earned his limited schedule, and is looking forward to spending time with his family. It must be noted that The Big Show did not confirm that his Wrestlemania match with Shaquille O’ Neal would be his last, but that he was in his final year with WWE. However, with WWE featuring him lesser and lesser on television, it is almost safe to assume that Wrestlemania 33 will be his swan song.
