WWE News: John Cena could take another hiatus from WWE

John Cena is perhaps the biggest superstar on the SmackDown Live roster

John Cena has become somewhat of a part-timer in the WWE. Cena has rarely been on WWE programming and even missed the traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series elimination match. John has been the face of the company for the better part of 15 years, but it looks like he is slowly moving away from the company to explore other avenues.

Variety.com recently reported that John Cena would step into his acting shoes once again, as he plays one of the leads in Kay Cannon's directorial debut, The Pact. Cena is slated to star beside Leslie Mann and Ike Barinholtz.

The film follows three parents who, upon discovering that their daughters have made a pact to lose their virginity on prom night, go out and try to stop them before it’s too late.

Better known for his roles in action movies, Cena has recently made a foray into the genre of comedy with successful roles in movies like Trainwreck and Sisters. His name also appeared in the cast of upcoming Marvel Studios movie Thor: Ragnarok.

Cena is currently filming the second season of reality show, American Grit. He is scheduled to return to WWE in December and make some appearance in live events throughout January. There are no concrete plans for Mr Hustle Loyalty Respect for the Royal Rumble either.

Cena was last seen on WWE during the clash at WWE No Mercy, where the main event featuring Cena, Ambrose and AJ Styles for the WWE World Championship opened the show. John was used in this match to further the already boiling rivalry between Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles.

Cena has been chasing the WWE World Championship for a while now, in hopes of equaling Ric Flair’s record 16 World Championships. However, Styles emerged victorious in that encounter to retain the World Championship.

There are also rumours of John being upset with the company for keeping him in the dark with Goldberg’s contract and eventual appearance at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando. It is reported that Cena is not happy that WWE is investing so much time, effort and cash on Goldberg and Lesnar, while younger talent languishes in the mid card.
