WWE News: Nature of Del Rio's injury revealed

Del Rio has had an eventful week

Alberto Del Rio has been in the midst of things this week. He participated in the Money in the Bank ladder match at the PPV this Sunday and later was involved in an incident with Paige the same night. When you are working a dangerous and gruelling match, there are sure to be some consequences. Alberto Del Rio found it the hard way this Sunday why Ladder Matches are considered to be of the dangerous matches.

Towards the end of the match, Del Rio and Cesaro were pushed off their ladder. Though Cesaro landed somewhat safely, Del Rio took a nasty fall. As the match ended in short order after that, the extent of Del Rio’s injury was not that clear to fans. The following night on Raw, he was conspicuously absent from the show. Speculations about Del Rio suffering an ankle injury was making rounds following his absence.

It is now revealed that Del Rio was indeed present at Raw but not used for the show. The officials had deemed that Del Rio needs rest and has allowed him to rest for the night. Contrary to popular belief, it was not his ankle that had the officials worried. According to reports, it is Del Rio’s knee that needed examination after the ladder match. Del Rio was indeed taken to a local hospital to have his knee examined after the PPV.

Though there is no clarity regarding the extent of the injury, Del Rio did appear on SmackDown the following night, He worked a match with his fellow MITB ladder match participant, Cesaro and won it.
