The relationship between Alberto Del Rio and Paige came completely out of the blue taking the wrestling world by storm and after they were handed suspensions by the WWE for violating their “Wellness Policy” earlier this August, the fans were speechless. Recently, TMZ Sports caught up with Alberto Del Rio and Paige while they were in New York City.
Del Rio spoke about being excited for his new role as the president of Combate Americas promotion. Del Rio also talked about continuing to work in the independent circuit and expressed a desire to work in the TNA if they pay him.
Del Rio had spoken about working with TNA during an interview with ESPN where he said, “I have other friends like Damien and Cody Rhodes. I'm just looking forward to doing an appearance with them pretty soon."
When asked about the stabbing incident which happened at a restaurant San Antonio, Del Rio says that he was at the wrong place at the wrong time and a guy dissed his girl.
He thinks it’s ridiculous that people are making assumptions about his accident. He calls it an accident with a drunk guy. Luckily for Del Rio, the owner of the restaurant was his business partner at another restaurant he’s opening. You can watch the whole interview here:
Paige refuses to comment about her current WWE situation and says that she is already in a lot of trouble as it is. She hopes that 2017 is better for her and is not optimistic about returning to the WWE Currently she is looking to recover from her neck injury for the next 6-7 months and says that she will be at Del Rio’s side like his “little shadow”.

When asked about the WWE Wellness policy, Del Rio says that they can do whatever they want and that it’s “same s*** , different day”. Also when asked about whether the WWE was trying to sabotage his relationship with Paige, he replied, “To be honest, I don't care what they say or what they try to do. We are together, and we are happy.”
Del Rio also ruled out a return to the WWE ring as he was desperate to leave and wanted to be happier while doing something better. However, he is supportive about Paige working in WWE and they joke about her long-term contract.
