WWE News: Steve Austin feels NXT are doing things right, talks about James Ellsworth

Austin likes a lot of things about WWE NXT

On a recent episode of his podcast, legendary WWE superstar ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin praised the NXT brand for the way they are going about their business at present. What has impressed Austin most about the show is the fact that the storylines are wrestling-based and that the announcers are talking about nothing but the action in the ring.

Austin was quoted as saying:

“I think it’s basically the simplicity of the show. I mean, you’ve got these angles that are wrestling-based, announcers staying within the system. They’re not talking about anything going on in pop culture,”

The Texas Rattlesnake further added:

“If you go back several months, Corey [Graves] made the comment that Bobby Roode had flown because he wanted to spend the least amount of time in Manhattan as possible. So just sticking within those parameters, the announcing I think is a little better on the NXT front right now.”

According to the WWE Hall of Famer, NXT has a better look to it and he likes most of the things about the show such as production values, entrance music and in-ring action. Moreover, their tag team champions, The Revival, are among Austin’s favourite tag teams. He stated:

“Just the action in the ring, it’s a better look, it’s dimmed down a little bit, it’s not too dark – I thought Lucha Underground was too dark this year from a visual standpoint. I like the production values. I like their entrance music. I like what they’re doing in the ring. Of course, they’ve got one of my favourite tag team in The Revival.”

Speaking about James Ellsworth, who has become a popular name ever since he started appearing on Smackdown Live recently, the ‘Texas Rattlesnake’ appreciated him for doing the job he has been given with full conviction. However, he also stated that he is more concerned about the serious stuff happening in the WWE.

The 6-time WWF champion added:

“Now, I give props to the kid. he’s doing his job and he’s doing a good job of it. It’s interesting… I like what they’re doing. Monday Night Raw or Smackdown, credit to the James Ellsworth guy, he’s doing a great job, but I’m all about the serious stuff.”
