WWE News: Tajiri to return to WWE in 2017

Former WWE Superstar, Tajiri is set to make a return to WWE, this coming spring. The Japanese-born pro wrestler recently took to Twitter, to announce his return to the paramount wrestling company.

The post which was published in the early hours of December 4th, 2016 was broadcasted in Japanese. It translates to receiving an “OKAY” from NXT General Manager and trainer, William Regal.

The post also mentions that Tajiri will fight his final bout in Japan, later this month, before making his much-anticipated move to WWE. He also thanked his loyal fans for supporting him through thick and thin.

Few days before his big announcement, Tajiri posted a picture of him along with Regal. Regal played a pivotal role, in bringing back the 46-year-old wrestler.

Tajiri has been on a part-time contract with WWE, since early 2016. He even participated in the Cruiserweight Classic Tournament, which kicked off on June 23rd, 2016. In his first match, Tajiri defeated Damian Slater to advance to the next round.

Despite a string of impressive performances, the veteran was eliminated by Gran Metalik, on July 14th.

Earlier in the month, Tajiri made his NXT debut at the NXT Special, which was held in Osaka, Japan. He teamed up with Akira Tozawa, in a losing effort against NXT Tag Team Champions DIY (Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano).

Tajiri, first signed with WWE, back in 2001. After a four-year stint at the company, he moved to the Indy circuit. Even though he made sporadic appearances in ECW between 2006-2008, nothing materialised between him and the company, and he went back to Japan to continue his wrestling journey.
