Tomasso Ciampa is known as Psycho Killer. He also has a reputation for being an extremely hard hitter. He came to fame in the larger picture when he began to appear on NXT last year. He teamed with Johnny Gargano in the First Annual Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Later that year, he also faced Samoa Joe in an impressive bout. Ciampa, like Gargano, worked NXT dates alongside independent dates, as they had “Tier 2” Contracts. However, in 2016, Gargano and Ciampa began to team up in NXT as well.

The timing of their pairing was good, as both were beloved by the fans, and also it was the looming period of when NXT was being raided by the main roster. The NXT Tag Team Division needed strengthening and this was the perfect time for them. They began a feud with The Revival and were the next in line for a championship match. The two teams had an absolute classic match at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II.

Though Gargano and Ciampa were unsuccessful, they are continuing their feud with The Revival on NXT. Both were in the Cruiserweight Classic as well, and Ciampa was defeated by Gargano in the first round. Both were also announced to appear on Raw for the Cruiserweight division.

Ciampa has his final independent date with PROGRESS in the United Kingdom. He will be facing Zack Sabre Jr. in his final Indie match. The two have been feuding in what has been termed as a “Global Rivalry”. He said that the rivalry will definitely end on Sunday. He had the following to say about his match with The Technical Wizard:

"I've faced Zack twice now in PROGRESS (and even once in the US). He's one of the best technicians in wrestling today. Our styles clash in such a perfect way, it makes for some wonderful art. I realize that Zack will be prepared to go to uncharted territory performing in front of the sold-out crowd of 2,400 at the historic Brixton Academy. I can only hope that my A-game surpasses his A-game on Sunday night."

Tomasso Ciampa also spoke on what his immediate goal is in the WWE:

Winning the NXT Tag Team Championship alongside Johnny. That's our number one goal. We want to be the guys every single fan goes home talking about. We want to be major contributors to the continued growth of NXT on every show, every tour and every TakeOver.
