Tonight’s Smackdown Live on the air closed with Dean Ambrose victorious against AJ Styles, thus earning a Number One Contender spot, giving him a future world title opportunity against AJ Styles. On air, Ziggler defended his title against Curt Hawkins. However, there was a second title defence after the show went off.

In the dark match, Dolph Ziggler defeated The Miz to retain the Intercontinental Championship. Maryse was banned from ringside. At one point, The Spirit Squad tried to interfere, but it was The Hype Bros who made the save. The trio had some fun after the match!

The match was said to be an extremely entertaining one, lasting about a full ten minutes or so. Ziggler and The Miz faced off against each other in last week’s dark match as well, a match that was said to be of Pay-Per-View quality.

Dolph Ziggler announced that at Survivor Series, he would be doing an open challenge for the Intercontinental Championship against anyone from Raw. It will be interesting to see who takes up the challenge, but whoever does so, has the opportunity to bring the prestigious title to Monday Night Raw.

It is almost guaranteed to be a good match as long as the competitor is someone who can hold a strong, solid match. Given that Survivor Series is for 4 hours, it won’t be surprising if the match is long in terms of duration.

Here is Ziggler’s title defence from earlier tonight:

Of late, he has been involved in a feud with The Miz; that saw his former teammates in The Spirit Squad return as The Hollywood A-Lister’s goons. Ziggler, on the other hand, has had Smackdown Tag Team Champions Heath Slater and Rhyno by his side to even the odds.
