After Dean Ambrose cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, the Shield was shunted into the rarified air of being a stable all of whose members went on to hold the top prize in the business.
And with the Title being passed around from one Shield member to another this past year or so, it looks like the trend is set to continue further.
Much has been made of how caustic the reception to Roman Reigns has been throughout the year, excepting when he laid waste to Triple H after the TLC pay-per-view, and how “over” both Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose have been by comparison.
And if the WWE needed any more proof about it, they should have received it after they conducted a fan poll on who their favourite member of the Shield is. Unsurprisingly perhaps, Dean Ambrose, riding on the wave of momentum of becoming WWE World Heavyweight Champion, topped the poll with 43% of the vote.
What is surprising though was that Seth Rollins, who has been a through and through heel, out-polled Roman Reigns with 30% of the vote compared to the 27% that Reigns garnered.
