SK WWE Power Rankings: 23 October, 2016

Golberg returns to the Power Rankings as well

The week that went by would be mostly remembered for one thing: Goldberg‘s return. Goldberg returned to the WWE arena after more than a decade and his presence was enough to give WWE a big push ahead of their upcoming pay-per-view ventures.

Not only did Goldberg give the ratings a boost, he also went on to break the Internet as the entire wrestling community went into chaos after seeing him.

This return ended up overshadowing most of the other action that went down this week, but as far as the Power Rankings are concerned, everything reflected. Here is a look at how things changed in this week’s WWE Power Rankings.

#10 James Ellsworth (NC)

Ellsworth manages to keep his place

James Ellsworth manages to keep his place in the Power Rankings thanks to his win over AJ Styles. This was the second win in a row for Ellsworth and though it came through disqualification, it is still a win in the record books and that is something worth noting.

The future of Ellsworth might still be hanging up in the air, but getting two wins over the WWE champion and making your T-Shirt outsell many others, are big achievements indeed.

Ellsworth might not be in the Power Rankings next week but for the time being, for the second week in a row, he keeps his place.

#9 Dean Ambrose (NC)

Ambrose gets another one over Styles

For another week, Dean Ambrose had the task of haunting AJ Styles. He helped James Ellsworth to get another win against AJ Styles and all this points toward another showdown between AJ Styles and Ambrose in the future. Ambrose, however, is still in danger of an exit from the Power Rankings if the weeks of inactivity continue.

On paper, Ambrose is yet to get the official title shot at AJ Styles and with Ellsworth getting two back to back wins over the champion; it would be interesting to see how the promotion books the Lunatic Fringe this week as he needs a strong booking badly.

#8 Goldberg (NR)

Guess who’s back

Goldberg had to get a place in the Power Rankings after his electrifying return on Monday Night Raw.

It was his first WWE appearance in more than a decade and Goldberg didn’t just simply come in, he boosted the ratings as well. He has accepted Lesnar’s challenge and we are bound to see these two men clash in the near future with Survivor Series being the most probable stage.

The warm welcome that Goldberg got on Monday Night shows that he is still a big draw and if he manages to keep the momentum going, Goldberg could jump up in the rankings soon.

#7 Charlotte (-1)

Showcasing her heel talents

Charlotte is set to challenge Sasha Banks for the Raw Women’s championship at Hell in a Cell. As part of promoting the match, Charlotte sat down with WWE Hall of Famer Lita for an interview and it was intense.

Charlotte and Lita managed to create the right amount of hype for the match and the heel brilliance that stands out in the resume of Charlotte was there to be seen as well.

With the homecoming episode of Hell in a Cell coming up, Charlotte will be looking to get the upper hand over Sasha and keeping an eye on her is recommended.

#6 Dolph Ziggler (-1)

Suffered a defeat this past week

After a couple of solid weeks under his belt, Dolph Ziggler had a setback this time around on SmackDown. The reigning Intercontinental champion teamed up with Rhyno and Heath Slater to go up against The Miz and Spirit Squad.

Chaos erupted towards the end of the six-man tag team match as expected and Miz and the Squad won after pinning Slater.

The fact that Ziggler did not take the pin was a positive, but at the same time; it was a loss on paper. This, along with the performance of the next superstar costs Ziggler one place in the rankings.

#5 Seth Rollins (+3)

Building up ahead of HIAC

The good run on Seth Rollins continued this week on Monday Night Raw when he went up against Chris Jericho. Rollins being back in the ring and performing at the highest level week in and week out is an encouraging site and as he is getting wins under his belt, it is reflecting on the Power rankings as well.

Rollins jumps three places this time around thanks to another win over Jericho.

On the next episode of Monday Night Raw, Rollins will be involved in a Triple Threat match with Kevin Owens and Jericho and if Rollins manages to get a win, it would be the best possible way to head into Hell in a Cell.

#4 Sasha Banks (NC)

Looking to keep the title intact on Sunday

Just like Charlotte, the Raw Women’s champion Sasha Banks also sat down with Lita for an interview. The interview of Sasha Banks was completely opposite to what Charlotte gave.

While Charlotte oozed out intensity throughout her interview, Sasha projected happiness. The respect that she had for Lita was there to be seen and the match at Hell in a Cell seemed like it was a dream situation for Sasha.

Bringing up the back injury hints at the possibility of WWE using it for the match. Sasha needs to build on all these and give the fans something memorable this week as well.

#3 AJ Styles (-1)

Nightmare season

AJ Styles is probably having nightmares about James Ellsworth these days. After a surprise defeat last week around, AJ suffered a disqualification defeat to Ellsworth this time. Dean Ambrose did have his say on how the match ended and this acted as a double blow for Styles.

Ambrose getting the better of Styles has been the trend for quite some time now and Styles will have to change this.

A battle with Ambrose at Survivor Series seems likely but before that Styles will have to get some momentum. This week, Styles should look to bounce back from the embarrassment that he suffered for the past two weeks.

2: Kevin Owens (+1)

Another week of inactivity

Kevin Owens was inactive as far as in ring action was concerned but he did have an impact on the show as a whole. It was the distraction caused by Owens that helped Rollins get a win over Jericho.

The reason Owens gets an improvement on his last week’s ranking is the second defeat that AJ Styles suffered. Other than that, Owens didn’t do anything noticeable this week around.

But things might change next week on Raw as he would be up against Jericho and Rollins in a triple threat match. With Rollins and Owens set to square off at Hell in a Cell, the match has huge importance.

#1 Roman Reigns (NC)

Still on top

Roman Reigns had a setback this week around as Rusev destroyed him on Monday Night Raw. Reigns enjoyed a long run of good results recently but it came to an abrupt end.

This, however, does not impact his place in the Power Rankings. Reigns had cemented his place on top for a long time and it would take more than one segment to take him off number 1.

And as both Owens and Styles had forgettable outings, it was only fitting to let Roman top the list this week around. Reigns would want revenge on Raw for what went down last week.
