WWE Rumor: Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt may become the next Smackdown Tag Champions

Slater and Rhyno are the inaugural and current Champions

Heath Slater and Rhyno have held the SmackDown Tag Team gold for quite some time now, and it seems WWE are planning to crown brand new Champions very soon. According to a report by Ringsindenews, the members of the New Wyatt Family, Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton, might become the second team to win the Tag team Championship of the blue brand.

The report notes that although the creative team was not considering the Wyatt Family to fight for the Tag team gold, it seems that the plans have been changed recently. The reason the American Alphas will have to encounter the Wyatts could be to earn a shot at the SmackDown Tag titles.

This past week, SmackDown had a six team turmoil match to crown the brand new contenders for the Championships, which are currently held by Slater and Rhyno. Jason Jordan and Chad Gable aka American Alphas last eliminated The Usos, thereby winning the match but they were soon confronted by the Wyatt Family.

Orton and Bray Wyatt issued a challenge to the Alphas for a match at next week’s edition of Smackdown Live. The winning team of that contest will square off against Heath Slater and Rhyno for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship at the upcoming TLC pay-per-view.

Despite Slater and Rhyno being over with the WWE Universe, Ringsidenews indicates that their tag title reign has been more of a comical relief.

At this moment, well-recognised Superstars, like Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt, possess the ability to the make the belt more prestigious and crowning them the Champions will be a better decision rather than handing it to any other team of the blue brand.

Heath Slater and Rhyno have been the tag champions for more than 74 days. At WWE Backlash, they defeated The Usos in the finals of the tournament to determine the first ever Smackdown Tag Team Champions. This victory also helped the One Man Band earn a Smackdown Live contract.
