WWE Rumours: Kevin Owens vs Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble?

Is the long-awaited match in the works?

Brock Lesnar was last seen in Summerslam where he viciously attacked Randy Orton, leaving him in a pool of his own blood. It was Orton’s first big match upon returning from his shoulder injury last October. Unfortunately, that brutal spot which blurred the lines between fiction and reality gave Orton a concussion, which was why he was not able to compete at Backlash against Bray Wyatt. However, if he is cleared by next month, then their match will proceed as it was scheduled to.

It appears that Brock Lesnar’s appearances for 2016 are done, as his contract states that he is scheduled to wrestle only four pay-per-views in a year. Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, and Summerslam are three of the Pay-Per-Views he is always guaranteed to wrestle in, and it appears that that is going to be the same next year as well. According to the 434, Brock Lesnar is scheduled to face Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Champion in the Royal Rumble.

The original plan was reportedly for Finn Balor to face Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble. This too would be a dream match for many. Unfortunately, Balor got injured and had to vacate the title within less than 24 hours of winning it and it looks like Owens has taken his spot.

Owens vs Lesnar is as much of a dream match as the former. In fact, there has been some buzz of a Owens vs Lesnar match for quite some time now, when many speculated that they may have been facing at Wrestlemania. It was said that the two were going to compete with each other at the most recent Hawaii tour, but it was then just confirmed as a baseless rumor, as Lesnar was not on the card. However, Owens ended up facing Shinsuke Nakamura instead, which isn’t exactly a bad deal.Once Rollins and Reigns are out of the title picture, there are few opponents left for Owens. It is being said that after Cesaro defeats Sheamus in the Best-Of-Seven series, he is scheduled to face Owens for the Universal Championship at some point down the road.

Whether he wins or not is not known. Another challenger that comes to mind is Sami Zayn, who defeated Owens at Battleground. Unfortunately, Zayn has been directionless since then. However, it is unlikely that Zayn would dethrone Owens this early into his call-up.
