WWE Rumors: James Ellsworth's title shot against AJ Styles to happen between TLC and Royal Rumble

Can James Ellsworth make it 4-0 against AJ Styles?

James Ellsworth is owed a World Championship match after defeating AJ Styles last week on SmackDown Live. According to Cage Side Seats, that match is set to take place sometime between TLC and Royal Rumble, with Styles finally getting the win over the Chinless Wonder.

Ellsworth defeated The Phenomenal One in a ladder match to gain a contract for Smackdown Live.

Incidentally, this is not going to be Ellsworth’s first World Championship match in WWE. Over a week after No Mercy, Styles defended the WWE World Championship against Ellsworth, and Ellsworth won by disqualification

All of Ellsworth’s wins over Styles happened due to Dean Ambrose interfering in some form or the other. The ladder match from last week also saw Ambrose interfere, though he did not directly impact the result, as Ellsworth hit Styles with “No Chin Music” and ended up climbing the ladder and successfully getting the contract.

If Ellsworth is to face Styles, it very likely means that Styles will remain WWE World Champion after TLC. The odds are high because there have also been rumours surfacing that The Phenomenal One could be defending his WWE World Championship against The Undertaker at the Royal Rumble.

The Phenom did announce his return on SmackDown Live 900, and WWE reportedly wants The Undertaker to be involved in a big way in the event at the Alamodome, where WWE is looking to sell over 60,000 tickets.

Ellsworth’s involvement in the feud has gotten some criticism from fans for overdoing the storyline with Ellsworth. However, it should be noted that Ellsworth has still been selling merchandise in good numbers and has also been consistently getting great reactions from the audience.

After Ellsworth and AJ face the next time, it is likely going to be Ellsworth’s final involvement in the main event storyline.
