WWE Rumors: Potential WWE World Heavyweight Championship plans for 2016

Everybody wants it

Anybody who is involved in creative processes knows that risk-taking is in the contract. But the WWE Creative team might be playing with fire with this one. According to dailywrestlingnews.com, there is backstage talk of having John Cena face Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of SummerSlam.

The brass feel that John Cena should become a sixteen-time WWE Champion and that run could be imminent. This is certainly not the only choice on the table, but given the stature of these two Superstars, it can be assumed that it is not too far down on the list.

There is a backstage feeling that AJ Styles getting a huge push would not be impossible, with even the WWE World Heavyweight Championship not being out of striking distance.

Another angle the higher-ups are still bent on is Brock Lesnar versus Bray Wyatt or even Braun Strowman. SummerSlam is still the target for this dynamite contest although given Strowman’s fall from Vince’s grace and Bray’s face-heel predicament, it will be no mean task to make them precipitate after an engaging storyline.
