WWE Rumors: Randy Orton to face Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam

Announcing his return the only way he could

It was announced yesterday on RAW that Brock Lesnar’s opponent at SummerSlam would be disclosed on this week’s SmackDown. Needless to say, the IWC in its vastness was abuzz about who would draw the short straw.

It is reported by multiple sources like allwrestlingnews.com and cagesideseats.com that there is a strong possibility that Randy Orton will be revealed as Lesnar’s dance partner at the biggest party of the summer.

Orton is close to completing rehabilitation for a shoulder injury he suffered in late 2015. Reports have emerged that Orton will return to training at the WWE Performance Center and will soon be medically cleared to return.

There is nothing to indicate when Orton will return to WWE programming, but the former World Heavyweight Champion is advertised for several Live Events in August.

Though they entered the WWE at around the same time, Lesnar and Orton have faced each other(on air) just once; on an episode of SmackDown in 2002. Lesnar’s historic feat of becoming the youngest Superstar(25 years) to win the WWE Championship was outdone by Orton, who won it aged 24.

Lesnar will face Mark Hunt at UFC 200 on July 9th . The former Heavyweight Champion opens as an underdog heading into his return bout, his last one being in December 2011.
