WWE Rumors: Rumored matches for NXT Takeover: San Antonio

NXT takes over Texas for the second time in nine months

NXT Takeover: San Antonio is set to take place on January 28th, 2017, one night before the Royal Rumble. According to All Wrestling News, the rumoured title matches for the card are:

NXT Championship – Shinsuke Nakamura(c) vs Bobby Roode

NXT Women’s Championship – Asuka vs Billie Kay OR Peyton Royce

NXT Tag Team Championship – #DiY vs The Authors Of Pain

On the latest episode of NXT, it was announced that there will be four matches taking place. The winner of each match will meet in a Fatal-4-Way bout to determine the Number One Contender for the NXT Championship. The four matches are:

Tye Dillinger vs Eric YoungElias Samson vs Roderick StrongOney Lorcan vs Bobby RoodeAndrade “Cien” Almas vs No Way Jose

It is more likely that a heel will win the Fatal-4-Way and challenge Nakamura at San Antonio. Of the four heels in the above-listed matches, Bobby Roode does carry the most momentum and is the biggest star. However, it is not out of the realm of possibilities for NXT to do a face vs face match, though it is generally avoided.

It was rumoured that NXT would continue bringing in veterans like they did in Toronto to face Asuka, as to their women's division is not on the same level as the current champion. Billie Kay and Peyton Royce are currently the two top heel females, being prominently featured on NXT television. The division is in a complete rebuilding phase.

San Antonio will also see matches from fresh feuds. The Samoa Joe-Shinsuke Nakamura feud came to a conclusion at the most recent live event in Melbourne. Even the feud between DiY and The Revival is set to come to an end very soon.

The winners of the rematch between DiY and The Revival will face The Authors Of Pain, who had won the second annual Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament. Since The Authors Of Pain are heels, it is very unlikely that they will face The Revival, who are also heels.

Takeover: San Antonio is set to take place at Freeman Coliseum, which can hold an estimated 11,700 people. NXT was last in San Antonio in July, where Finn Balor and other NXT stars, who had been called up, made their final NXT appearances. It was a farewell to the whole group who were departing the developmental territory
