The WWE Universe is pumped up about the long anticipated return of Goldberg. The former World Champion is booked in an angle with Brock Lesnar and a rematch between the two will be witnessed soon.
Apart from Goldberg, WWE has brought back several former Superstars to enhance their current storylines and this time, it’s apparently the Boogeyman’s turn.
It seems that Boogeyman is going to be another superstar to make his return to WWE. The rumours started circling around social media when it was revealed that a few indie promoters were not able to book the Boogeyman.
One of the promoters proposed some dates in December, while the other tried to get the former WWE Superstar for a date in January.
Both of them were denied with a reason which hinted that the Boogeyman will be working with WWE by then. As of now, the word of promoters is the only source regarding the rumoured return of Boogeyman.
Boogey has been a constant part of the Smackdown roster during 2005-07, after which he was drafted to ECW. He was released from his contract in March 2009 and has worked in multiple independent wrestling promotions since then. In fact, he joined the Reality of Wrestling promotion (run by WWE Hall of Famer rival Booker T) earlier this year.
In 2012, during the Slammy Awards special edition of RAW, Boogeyman worked a segment with his former rival, Booker T. He has made sporadic appearances in WWE Swerved and in some videos for their youtube channel.
Last year, he entered at #7 in the Royal Rumble match, which was his first match inside a WWE ring after 2009. The surprise entrant, however, was quickly eliminated by Bray Wyatt.
Since November 2015, Boogeyman is on a legend’s deal (making rare non-wrestling appearances) with the company. It is possible he will return as per the contract and may not be involved with in-ring competition.
Returns have become common in the WWE. For instance, the former WWE Tag team Champions, Headbangers wrestled on Smackdown Live against the team of Heath Slater and Rhyno. Similarly, the Spirit Squad are being used to heat up the feud between the Miz and Dolph Ziggler over the Intercontinental Championship.
Former United States Champion, Shelton Benjamin will also be joining the roster after he recovers from a torn rotator cuff, the injury which postponed his scheduled return to the company.
