It was shocking turn of events in 2014, when the longest reigning WWE World Champion of the ‘modern era’, CM Punk decided to leave the company and eventually retire from pro-wrestling, terming it ‘riskier than MMA’.

But it was good news for the fans of the Straight Edge superstar when he announced about his UFC debut. Punk officially became a part of the organization since December 2014. His debut has been delayed, as well as his training to be a UFC fighter, due to his injuries. His expected debut in Summer 2015 had to be changed because of back and shoulder issues. Later, his rumored debut date was announced as June 6th at UFC 199, which again had to be changed as Punk underwent a back surgery.

Dave Meltzer from The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reveals that there are numerous reports that hint, Punk has been working hard but he has not progressed well as a MMA fighter. CM Punk has taken part in several live sparring sessions at the gym and there have been a lot of rumors that he has not fared well.

Dailywrestlingnews.com reports that, Mickey Gall (2-0) will most possibly defeat Punk in his UFC debut match. They also notify that the main reason behind signing a rookie fighter like CM Punk was to attract media. If Punk doesn’t get to improve soon, then his UFC career will be in jeopardy.
