Post his win over Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 on 12th November 2015, Conor McGregor, the first two-division champ in the history of UFC has undoubtedly become the biggest name in the world of combat sports.
Owing to the immense drawing power that he possesses, Conor has become one of most sought-after athletes in the world. WWE has always been interested in signing such renowned athletes to send the ticket counters flooding for their biggest annual pay-per-view, Wrestlemania.
Stars like Muhammad Ali, Flyod Mayweather Jr., Shaquille O'Neil, Mike Tyson and Ronda Rousey have made appearances in the past at the biggest stage of 'em all. And from what the rumour mills suggest, Conor McGregor might be making a grand appearance at Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando, Florida.
As per cagesideseats.com, the word is that Conor McGregor might be having a segment with The Rock himself! As of now, there is no news about in what capacity the Irishman would be getting involved with The People’s Champion.
Regardless of the nature of the appearance though, watching ‘The Notorious One’ stand in the same ring with ‘The Great One’ would be a moment to remember for the fans all over the world.
Conor McGregor has a personality custom-made for WWE. He has all the charm, swagger, and skills that WWE looks for in a superstar. Conor has been lighting up his weigh-ins and interviews in UFC with his incredible antics and his brutal verbal takedowns on his opponents.
His showdowns with Jose Aldo in the press conferences before UFC 194 have been among the most memorable moments in UFC history. He sure can cut a ‘promo’.
Even WWE’s Executive Vice President, Triple H, is of the opinion that first two-division champion of UFC has everything needed to become a WWE superstar. Triple H has been very interested in getting Conor to appear in WWE. He was also seen in attendance among the spectators at UFC 205 in New York. When questioned whether Conor Mcgregor could make a crossover appearance, Triple H answered-
"He could come over, he's got it all, man. He's got the personality, the skills, the talk. He's an entertainer, for sure.”
“What does he walk around at? 180 pounds? I have smaller guys now in the WWE," Levesque said. "We have 200-pound guys who are stars. You don't need to be 300 pounds any more,” Triple H said in an interview with The Telegraph.
He even mentioned Conor in his tweet-
Conor McGregor was recently involved in a twitter war with a handful of WWE Superstars where he put them down, something which infuriated a whole lot of WWE fans. For what it’s worth, this tweet from McGregor has enough material for him to be incorporated into WWE storylines
I didn't mean no disrespect to the @wwe fans. What I meant to say was that I'd slap the head off your entire roster. And twice on Sunday's.— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) August 7, 2016
It has to be noted that Ronda Rousey made an appearance in a segment involving The Rock, Triple H, and Stephanie McMahom at Wrestlemania 31 and Brock Lesnar recently fought at UFC 200 while still being in contract with WWE. If things work out well, we might very well see Conor McGregor go toe-to-toe with The Rock at Wrestlemania 33.
