WWE Rumors: Is WWE holding up The Undertaker's return?

The Undertaker

The 900th episode of Smackdown was a huge event for WWE fans worldwide. It featured the long-awaited return of WWE legend The Undertaker to WWE programming.

During the episode, The Deadman made it very clear that he planned to move on from the Wrestlemania routine, as he did not want Wrestlemania to define his wrestling career anymore. His announcement on the SmackDown episode was a clear indication that he would be working events outside of Wrestlemania as he made his comeback.

His exact words were:

“Wrestlemania will no longer define who I am. I’m back, taking souls and diggin' holes. Survivor Series was where The Undertaker was born, and Smackdown has always been my home(sic).”

However, there has been no sign of the WWE superstar since, nor has any official word come from him regarding his return to the ring.

Here is the video of the announcement that The Undertaker made on Smackdown.

The word doing the rounds now is that, with a huge time gap between PPV (pay-per-view) events in between December and January, WWE is believed to be prolonging the return of The Undertaker to television until either the end of the year or the first couple of weeks of January.

However, it is certain that once he makes his return, he is expected to challenge AJ Styles, with both the WWE stalwarts vying for the WWE World Title, presumably at the Royal Rumble in Alamodome. Although there had been rumours doing the rounds that AJ styles may not be paired opposite The Deadman at all, it now seems like fans will get the Styles vs Taker dream match.

The Undertaker was also recently spotted backstage during the RAW event in Texas. He even posted a picture of himself on Instagram, admitting the same. Here’s the picture, in case you missed it.
