While the former World Heavyweight Champion Shawn Michaels has kept the promise of not wrestling anymore following his legendary retirement match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 26, he is back with the company, this time, as a coach.
Allwrestlingnews.com is reporting that Micheals has joined WWE Performance center as a trainer. He will replace former WWE World Heavyweight Champion and retired wrestler Terry Taylor as the finishing coach.
Michaels will be joining the team of other wrestling legends such as Matt Bloom, Norman Smiley, and William Regal to train aspiring WWE Superstars at the center. Allegedly his role will be to help the talents there to polish their acts.
Reports also suggest that the WWE Legend has recently relocated from his home in San Antonio, Texas, to Orlando, Florida, where the WWE Performance center is located for the same purpose.
Although it's not known if he will work full time or a limited schedule, it's notable that working at performance center will mean that Micheals will get lots of chances to catch up with his former colleague and current on-screen CEO of WWE Triple H.
It's not the first time Shawn will be teaching young wrestlers as he opened his own wrestling academy back in 1999 and named it The Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy (now known as Texas Wrestling Academy). Tthe academy is known for training many famous wrestlers such as Daniel Bryan, Brian Kendrick, and Paul London.
It should also be noted here that it's not the first time WWE has offered a role to Michaels in the company following his retirement. He has been working with WWE as an Ambassador since his last match in 2010 and has also made several on-screen appearances for the company in the time.
His last WWE TV appearance came during WrestleMania 32 where he sent some shock waves in the stadium by appearing in his wrestling gear. Although he did not wrestle a full match, he confronted The League of Nations with fellow WWE Legends Mick Foley and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
The former World Champion delivered his signature sweet chin music to both Alberto Del Rio and King Barrett in the segment before celebrating with other WWE Legends in the ring. HBK made his wrestling debut back in 1984 and went on to wrestle for more than 22 years before finally retiring in 2010. He also missed 4 years of his wrestling career from 1998 to 2002 due to a back injury.
