WWE Rumours: WWE looking to bring Wade Barrett back?

The return of the King?

Wade Barrett left earlier this year after not signing another contract with WWE. Currently, he is working on other projects such as acting. He has mentioned before that he is simply taking a hiatus from wrestling and not retiring. Fans who have met him outside, post-WWE, have mentioned that he said he will be back to wrestling at some point.

The 434 reported that WWE is reaching out to Barrett to re-sign and be part of the Smackdown Live brand. Naturally, a star of Barrett’s potential would benefit far more from joining the blue brand.

Barrett was perhaps most over during his time as Bad News Barrett. He had openly said in an interview with Wrestlezone Radio that he believed WWE made a mistake when they did not turn him babyface during his Bad News Barrett run.

He makes a good case, as he was extremely popular among the fans during his peak, and was even favoured by the crowd over legends such as Rey Mysterio.

It would definitely be surprising to see Barrett back so quickly after he left, but there would be no doubt that he would have a place, even if it were in the upper mid-card role. He could even use his Bad News Barrett potential and could get a huge push up to his biggest potential.

Many believed that Barrett deserved to be a World Champion and during his red-hot run at Nexus believed that he was being shaped for a top spot. In fact, around the end of 2010 to early 2011, there were heavy rumours that Barrett was going to face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 27.

Clearly, that plan got shot down in favour of Triple H facing The Phenom instead. Here is Barrett talking of life post-WWE:
