WWE Smackdown Live Preview: 13th December 2016

Ambrose is out to see revenge

Monday Night Raw was busy building up to Roadblock which happens this Sunday night. SmackDown, on the other hand, has time to focus on the road ahead to Royal Rumble and also to clear the fallout of TLC which happened a couple of weeks back.

The James Ellsworth – Dean Ambrose situation was under the limelight last week around. With the way in which it impacted last week’s main event, the feud is bound to continue this week.

The tag team division and the Women’s division also has interesting developments coming up and as always, we are going to take a closer look at the possible developments that could happen at SmackDown Live this week.

#5 Ellsworth going to be punished

Ambrose is not going to sit back

Dean Ambrose had his chance to get a hold of the intercontinental championship last week on SmackDown.

He went up against The Miz and almost got the win as well, but unfortunately, a distraction from James Ellsworth proved to be costly for the Lunatic Fringe. Ellsworth was the difference once again for Ambrose and he would be out to seek revenge.

Ellsworth is likely to get punished hard by Ambrose this week on SmackDown and since Ellsworth has cost Ambrose two title matches, the intensity is going to be high. WWE could pull off a heel turn for Ambrose if he crosses the limit.

The heel brilliance of Ambrose could prove to be a major boost for the main event scene on Smackdown.

#4 Bliss and Becky back at it

Becky wants the gold back

Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch completed a loop of their storyline when Bliss won the title from Becky at TLC.

The new direction for the storyline was kick-started last week on SmackDown with Becky and Bliss swapping the roles that they had played earlier. Becky is the babyface challenger that wants to get the title back while Bliss goes down as the heel champion who has nothing to prove.

One more high profile match between these two is bound to happen. And the buildup will continue this week on SmackDown. With so many segments already disposed, it would be interesting to see how WWE utilises the women.

#3 Domination of the Wyatts

Dominating throughout

The Wyatt Family initiated their domination in the tag team division after securing a huge win over Heath Slater and Rhyno on SmackDown last week.

This was their first outing as champions and they passed the test with flying colours. They showed no signs of slowing down and now that Rhyno and Slater are out of the way, new challengers will probably come forth, for the Wyatts.

American Alpha seems to be a good choice to challenge the Wyatt family, considering that they were the team that earned the title shots before Wyatt Family came in. The Wyatt Family – American Alpha match was also a treat indicating that they could deliver in the longer run.

#2 AJ to get a new feud?

Will we see a new challenger for AJ?

AJ Styles had a week off last time around. He was supposed to face James Ellsworth for the WWE championship but he was not cleared to wrestle on Tuesday night. Ellsworth moved into a feud with Ambrose later that night, leaving AJ Styles without any current storyline.

WWE will be giving Ellsworth his shot at AJ this week or they could come up with an entirely new challenger for Styles.

The lack of main event stars who could challenge AJ would be a big concern, but WWE needs to overcome this at some point or the other. Sooner, the better.

#1 The reign of Miz

Miz could get a new challenger

Miz is still one of the most strongly booked champions in WWE. In fact, Miz is perhaps ‘the’ most strongly booked champion in WWE. He defeated Dolph Ziggler back in TLC and last week, he got a huge win over Dean Ambrose as well. Miz would be in need of a new challenge this week around and it would be interesting to see who it might be.

If WWE is not going for Ziggler again, Miz will be given a new challenge. The possibility of Sami Zayn cannot be pushed away but at the same time, it would be a long shot as WWE would rather go with someone from the SmackDown roster.
