Smackdown results

WWE Friday Night Smackdown aired on the SyFy network from Biloxi, Mississippi as the go-home show for Night of Champions saw Roman Reigns square off against Rusev while his NOC opponent Seth Rollins had his part to play during the bout.

Here are the results from the show.

Jimmy Uso vs Stardust

With his tag team partner Jey Uso at ringside, Jimmy Uso battled against one half of the no.1 contenders, Stardust (with Goldust at his corner) in a singles match. Stardust was mostly on the offensive side during the encounter, hitting Jimmy with several moves including a dropkick to the head. But it was the Samoan who ultimately came out on top with a super kick after managing to kick out from a O’Connor Roll. After the match, Goldust tried to inflict a post-match attack that was quickly thwarted by a double super kick from the Samoan brothers.

Winner: Jimmy Uso

Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus battle The Miz and Cesaro

Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler vs The Miz and Cesaro

The United States and Intercontinental champions teamed up against their NOC contenders in a tag team bout, determined to prove that they are ready and focused to retain thier belts at the pay-per-view. An evenly matched contest escalated into chaos as both Dolph Ziggler and The Miz’s stunt doubles, “R-Ziggler” and “Damien Mizdow,” tried to insert themselves into the action. But it was the distraction by The Showoff’s “look-a-like” that allowed the bleached-blond Superstar to super kick Miz’s “moneymaker” straight into a Brogue Kick from Sheamus.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus

Adam Rose vs Heath Slater

Just as Rose seemed to gain some momentum during the match, Titus O’Neil tripped his leg from outside the ropes allowing his partner Heath Slater to hit a leg lariat for a near fall. But the partying superstar’s Bunny had something to say about that interference as it hopped into the ring and to the surprise of many, did a Pescado over Titus. Stunned by what he saw, Slater turned around only to get Party Fouled by Rose for the pinfall.

Winner: Adam Rose

Big Show and Los Matadores vs The Wyatt Family

Lost Matadores and Big Show were all smiles before their match against The Wyatt Family, but the mood quickly changed once the contest got underway. As Luke Harper & Erick Rowan battled with Fernando & Big Show outside the ring, Diego tried to avoid Bray Wyatt’s fearsome attack between the ropes. Unfortunately for the spirited matador, his fast-paced attack led him straight into the arms of Sister Abigail.

Winner: The Wyatt Family

Nikki Bella gets the better of her Night of Champions opponents

Paige vs Nikki Bella

All the three Night of Champions competitors were involved in the non-title one-on-one Divas competition as Divas champion Paige went up against Nikki Bella and AJ Lee joined the commentary team at ringside. Paige hit Nikki with a thrust kick but Brie’s estranged twin came back with a clothesline followed by a drop kick. She delivered a face buster for the nearfall after which Paige hit the Paige-Turner to pick up a win against her NOC opponent.

AJ grabbed the Divas title and entered the ring as Paige kept on stating that it’s her and demanded the title back. Nikki took advantage of the situation and took out the “frenemies” posing with the title in her hands.

Winner: Paige

Bo Dallas vs Jack Swagger

Despite an early offensive onslaught from Jack Swagger, Bo Dallas took round two of his un-Bo-lievable rivalry with The Real American, thanks to a Running Bo-dog. Unfortunately for the inspirational Superstar, his post-match message of Bo-lief didn’t go over well with his patriotic adversary, who kicked Dallas in the face before he could deliver his trademark catchphrase.

Winner: Bo Dallas

Seth Rollins interferes and takes the fight to Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns vs Rusev

Roman Reigns seemed to be on the verge of overcoming Rusev’s powerful assault before Seth Rollins arrived to cut off the black-clad Superstar’s comeback. Mr. Money in the Bank’s plan backfired, however, as he ended up inadvertently nailing The Super Athlete with his briefcase, resulting in a disqualification victory for The Hero of the Russian Federation.

Reigns and his former Shield “brother” continued to battle outside the ring as The Powerhouse chased his Night of Champions opponent through the WWE Universe. Back inside the squared circle, Mark Henry interrupted Lana and Rusev’s post-match celebration as Old Glory herself rained down from the rafters. The sight of the American flag sent Rusev into a rage as he attacked The World’s Strongest Man before running into quite possibly the most patriotic World’s Strongest Slam we’ve ever seen.

Winner: Rusev via DQ
