Analysis

Rollins opened Smackdown in what was some strong mic work from our current WWE World Heavyweight champion. Cesaro and Rollins delivered a solid match up last week on Smackdown and this bout would be no different. Having the brewing Cesaro vs Owens feud once again crossover with Seth Rollins is definitely interesting. A Rollins vs Cena match for Summerslam would most certainly deliver, but it’s not exactly very fresh or new. Perhaps a better route to go, and hopefully WWE are planning to do this, would be to have Rollins defend his title at Summerslam in a fatal four way against John Cena, Kevin Owens and Cesaro.

The eight man tag team match was fairly entertaining although it still doesn’t give the tag division much direction. The Primetime Players still don’t have any real clear contenders heading into Summerslam. New Day have still been delivering well but another standard rematch with PTP would lack a lot of spark. Lucha Dragons could be a solid choice but since both teams are faces, that could cause some reluctance from management to book the feud. Besides that, there aren’t many other options as both Los Matadores and The Ascension have still been booked as weak jobbers. Perhaps a triple threat title bout between PTP, New Day and the Lucha Dragons could happen at Summerslam 2015.

WWE also continued to build towards the Rusev & Summer Rae vs Dolph Ziggler & Lana bout that will likely happen at Summerslam. Having Rusev and Summer discuss Lana’s actions on Raw is a very simple way to continue the feud but it should work just fine for a natural storyline progression.

WWE obviously also seem to be leading to another Stardust vs Neville bout for Summerslam. The superhero vs supervillain dynamic is definitely very interesting and it will also be intriguing to see if Arrow gets involved.

The main event should be a very solid match but having Owens take the pinfall loss isn’t great as he hasn’t won for a long time. Although having Rollins take the pinfall wouldn’t really have been much better.

Summerslam is drawing near, so expect even more feuds to become clear on next week’s episode of Raw.
