WWE Survivor Series 2016: 5 Superstars who should shine at the pay-per-view

The Money fighter

Survivor Series is just around the corner and like all the years that went by, the importance of the pay-per-view cannot be stressed enough. With the brand split in place, the relevance of Survivor Series is one step higher than the past few years and this makes it an ideal platform for superstars to shine.

While WrestleMania might still be months away, we all are well aware of the long arc of booking that WWE makes use of, and building up superstars at Survivor Series, could give an indication on how WWE is planning to play out their Mania season.

The traditional elimination matches also open the door for creating heroes and it’s a technique that had been tested successfully in the past as well. Combine all these factors and it would be safe to say, that we could see certain superstars outshine others at the pay-per-view. And in this article, we are going to try and list down those names.

#5 Kalisto

Time to show the world where he belongs

Kalisto’s inclusion to Survivor Series came as a big surprise. He was given a shot at the Cruiserweight championship in the last minute and it has managed to create some buzz. When WWE first announced the Cruiserweight division for Raw, the exclusion of Kalisto was a big talking point.

He was a recognisable name that WWE could’ve used to build the division up. Instead, he was drafted to SmackDown. WWE finally seems to be correcting their mistake and Kalisto does have a chance of winning. If he wins, he will become the man that brought the Cruiserweight division to SmackDown, and that’s a big deal.

Even if Kalisto loses, he shows the fans that he deserves to be in the cruiserweight division. Either way, Kalisto gets the limelight.

#4 Braun Strowman

SmackDown will sweat to eliminate him

One must be a fool to think that WWE will not give Braun Strowman a strong booking at Survivor Series. Strowman has been on a squash run in the past couple of months, and being part of Team Raw at Survivor Series is his first major step as a singles wrestler.

He will be a dark horse during the Raw vs. SmackDown match, and even though he might not be the lone survivor, team SmackDown would sweat to get him out of the match.

However, the interesting part for Strowman is his path after Survivor Series.

While he is bound to have a strong showing at the pay-per-view, the way WWE books him after that, will decide whether he is going to end up like every other monster heel that WWE tried to push.

#3 Bayley

Survivor Series is a platform for babyfaces like Bayley

Wrestling fans love underdogs and Survivor Series is hands down, the best platform to make one. Over the course of the pay-per-view’s history, we have seen how the traditional matches give rise to excellent underdog stories. The most recent memory that comes to mind is the Dolph Ziggler scenario, where he became the lone Survivor with the help of Sting.

The babyface appeal of Ziggler was what worked for the storyline and if there is anyone that could be considered a pure babyface in the elimination matches, it is Bayley.

Almost all the other superstars taking part in the PPV get mixed reactions, Bayley, on the other hand, is someone that the fans will root for no matter what.

#2 Brock Lesnar

The bad guy

Brock Lesnar will face Goldberg at Survivor Series and if there is anything that is guaranteed from the match, it is a performance from the Beast. While rustiness is something that Goldberg needs to battle, Lesnar comes into this match with a good amount of comfort.

The fans have clearly rallied behind Goldberg and WWE has done a great job of pushing him as the babyface in this feud. For a change, Lesnar will have some legit heel heat on him, which he has not got in his last few feuds.

Bringing in Goldberg’s family is what changed the whole thing and with such a storyline backing, the brutal wrestling style of Lesnar is going to make it easy for him to shine.

#1 Alexa Bliss

SmackDown needs an answer for Raw

Alexa Bliss is certainly one of the most underrated women performers in the WWE right now. She has been feuding with Becky Lynch for the SmackDown Women’s championship and rumours suggest that she could get another shot at Becky after Survivor Series.

While Bliss’ booking has been a bit inconsistent, the rumoured match between Becky and Alexa at TLC will be SmackDown’s answer to the Hell in a Cell showdown, between Sasha Banks and Charlotte.

To make the SmackDown women look equal to their counterparts on Raw, WWE needs to build up Becky and Alexa ahead of their match. As Becky is the reigning champion, it is Alexa that needs a strong booking at Survivor Series.
