The SmackDown Tag team championship would be on the line at TLC when Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton will challenge Heath Slater and Rhyno.
The journey towards the title for Bray and Orton has been nothing short of dramatic. From Orton’s turn to the success that they enjoyed at Survivor Series to the rest of the Wyatt family, it has been a good angle for everyone involved.
The championship match at the pay-per-view on Sunday would be the focal point of the storyline and it has some interesting permutations and combinations. WWE could end the match in a handful of ways and in this list; we are going to list down some of them.
#5 New Member for the family
After a long time, Wyatt Family has finally managed to establish themselves as a credible stable in the WWE. The turnaround is due to the addition of Randy Orton and the whole angle started when Orton turned on Kane.
The Wyatt Family has been at constant war with Kane ever since and rather than wasting the veteran outside the stable, WWE could make him a part of the team just like what they did with Orton.
Kane providing a distraction at TLC and helping the Wyatt Family to win tag team titles would be a sure shot headline maker. With Kane as the new member and the free bird rule in place, there will be some exciting storylines to build after the show.
#4 Slater and Rhyno pull off a surprise
A clean win for Heath Slater and Rhyno would be a big surprise.
Despite being the reigning champions, they go into the match as underdogs. This is because of the star power that Orton and Bray bring to the table. Also, considering the momentum that these two have managed to create on the road to TLC, it would turn out to be a shock if they lost cleanly.
The only situation in which WWE should pull this off is if they want to split up Orton and Bray. If that is indeed the path WWE is headed to then a clean win for Rhyno and Slater wouldn’t be a matter of discussion as the spotlight would be on the friction between the Wyatt Family members.
#3 Brothers of destruction seek revenge
As you would read in the coming slides again and again, Randy Orton turning on Kane was the start of the whole Orton – Wyatt association. Kane has been closely associated with the Wyatt storyline ever since.
WWE’s desire to have a packed Alamodome for the Royal Rumble is evident from the efforts they’ve been putting into marketing the event and the addition of Brock Lesnar and Goldberg to the card backs this.
What if they have Undertaker at the Royal Rumble as well?
Considering the health of Taker, a tag team match wouldn’t be a big problem. If he comes out with his brother at TLC and costs Bray and Orton their title shot, the WWE could easily book a Bray and Orton vs. Brothers of Destruction match for the Royal Rumble.
#2 Slater and Rhyno explode
The Heath Slater – Rhyno relationship has been a curious one so far. It all started with the Free agent angle of Slater and no one even imagined that we would come this far with the angle.
The title reign of these two have been good so far but at the end of the day, they are a makeshift tag team. If they drop the title to Bray and Orton at TLC, they would be relegated to the mid card just like all the irrelevant tag teams in the division.
Rather than pushing down Slater and Rhyno down to this abyss, WWE could kick start a feud between these two. After Bray and Orton wins the match, Slater and Rhyno could turn against each other with Rhyno turning heel.
#1 And New
The Orton- Bray relationship is something that caught the fans blind-sided and WWE is yet to give explanations to many factors regarding this. The fact that Orton has not completely taken up the dressing style and other shenanigans of the Wyatt Family, makes this relationship even more volatile in nature.
A split between Bray and Wyatt could give WWE an interesting storyline heading into the WrestleMania period. But rather than breaking them up now WWE could let them win the tag team championships and have a break-up angle at Royal Rumble.
For this to happen, a clean win at TLC is necessary and it would freshen up the Tag team division for sure.
