WWE Update: Vince McMahon tells Triple H to back off; to personally handle the CM Punk issue

CM Punk

- Vince McMahon: The chairman personally is handling the situation regarding CM Punk, as opposed to Triple H or WWE’s Talent Relations department, who usually deal with these sorts of situations.

The WWE ofiicials had hoped to keep the issue within the company and deal with it. However by the apparent leak of the story and it becoming a big public issue, the officials are fairly disappointed.

- Punk Chants: At last night’s WWE live event held in Orlando, there were no CM Punk chants as he was not advertised. Although fans did take not of his appearance in video packages which were played on the big screen. Punk has also seen himself removed from some of the WrestleMania XXX promotional material, but not from all of them.

Contrary to the situation in Orlando, CM Punk chants were in full flow at last night’s live event in Wichita. WWE also announced that the fans can get refunds for CM Punk not being on the show. The Shield then cut a promo on Punk not being there and claimed that everyone should be glad that Punk went home.

- Important Dates: Several important dates are lined up in the recent future for CM Punk’s appearance, although in light of the recent events and the current situation between him and WWE, it remains to be seen, what WWE will do. Punk has been scheduled to appear on a show of Comedy Central at midnight on the 12th of February, and it won’t come as a surprise if he is quizzed about his WWE status on the show.

WWE then has a RAW show scheduled to be held on the 3rd of March in Chicago and it will be interesting if they bring Punk for the show or not, as Chicago is his hometown.

Also, WWE is discrete about it’s current status with CM Punk, as Punk has been ranked at number 9 in the new WWE.com Power Rankings, which was released on the 1st of February. WWE is not going public about anything related with Punk yet.

Reason behind his exit:

  • CM Punk is of the impression that he hasn’t been fairly compensated for the events in which he has featured in the past. He further has issues that so far, nobody from the company has spoken to the superstars about how they will be compensated ffor this year’s WrestleMania and the other pay-per-views with the imminent launch of the WWE Network.
  • Punk has also been upset with his treatment by the WWE, as he believes no matter what happens, he will never be pushed like John Cena has been, as the face of the company. After having realized that he ‘ll always be number two behind Cena as a babyface, Punk had at one point pushed hard to go heel again, despite the fact that he was super over as a babyface. The idea behind this was to turn heel, so that at least he could be number one as a heel.

Also, Punk was apparently not happy about facing Triple H at the WrestleMania. As his contract was set to expire in July, and the relation between him and WWE deteriorating, people within the company were not expecting him to resign, and as such Punk likely knew the direction in which that match would have gone.

- Inside WWE: While the vast majority of the people inside WWE believe that the whole situation regarding Punk is true, a fraction of them do believe that all of this is a work. The majority that do believe that Punk’s departure is legit are also split on the opinions.

Half of these majority believe that Punk did the right thing as he stood up for himself and should be applauded. the other half of this majority are of the opinion that Punk is acting like a baby avout everything and should not have walked right out of everything, especially without giving WWE creative team the time to write him out of storylines. It has also been said to be rather polarizing issue within the company.
