WWE WrestleMania 28: The People's Champ returns to action

Probably the best picture from the WrestleMania vault

The twenty-eighth annual WrestleMania professional wrestling pay-per-view, WrestleMania 28 was produced by WWE and it took place on 1 April 2012 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida. The match card of the event comprised 8 matches.

This WrestleMania is extremely special because the most electrifying man in all of sports entertainment, The Rock, made his WrestleMania return and fought inside the squared circle. The Rock was present at WrestleMania 27 as well but he didn't officially compete in a match.

But at WM 28, the WWE universe got what they deserved. The company gave them The Rock vs John Cena, a high-intensity battle involving the best superstars from the present and the past eras. With all this said, let us have a look at some of the best moments from the event-

Randy Orton vs Kane

The demon slams the viper

The difference of opinion and rivalry between Randy Orton and Kane we saw a few months ago wasn't new to them. These two guys competed in a non-title singles match at WrestleMania 28 in which the Big Red Machine emerged victorious.

In a brawl that lasted for nearly 10 minutes, Kane delivered an early Choke Slam to Orton but that didn't keep the viper down. Randy took to Kane and attempted an RKO from the second rope but the monster was smart enough to counter that move and was very wise to convert it into a Chokeslam of his own and pinned Randy for the win.

It was probably the last good performance of Kane when it comes to singles action as we know what all has been going on with the demon since then.

CM Punk vs Chris Jericho

CM Punk retains the title

Two guys who proclaimed themselves as the "Best in the World" over the years took on one another at WrestleMania 28- We are talking about the CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho match for the WWE Championship.

The stipulation for this match was that if Punk got disqualified, he would still lose the title. Jericho teased Punk and irritated him so that Punk may do something crazy and get disqualified but that never happened.

The champion kept his cool and avoided the use of any weapons during the match. Jericho locked Punk in the walls but the straight edge superstar managed to reverse it and applied an Anaconda Vice of his own. Jericho had no choice but to tap out resulting in Punk retaining the title.

Sheamus vs Daniel Bryan

A good luck kiss and that’s game over for Bryan

This match was famous for many ridiculous reasons. Daniel Bryan defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Sheamus in the first match of the show. The WWE universe was left in shock and astonishment once the match got underway.

The match ended in just 18 seconds and the show kicked off with a huge bang. Bryan went for good luck kiss from AJ after the bell rang and after he turned back, something touched his lip, this time obviously not the lip of AJ but the boot of Sheamus.

The Celtic Warrior delivered a Brogue Kick to Bryan and won the match and the world title.

The Rock vs John Cena

The ‘Great One’ stands tall

Dubbed as the "Once in a lifetime" match, The Rock and John Cena took on each other in the main event of the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania. This match went on for more than 30 minutes and both the 'Great One' and the 'Resilient One' showcased the urge to win.

Rock sustained two AAs from Cena and Cena took a Rock Bottom and a People's Elbow and still didn't give up. Cena's end came when he tried to mimic the Rock and deliver a People's Elbow to the 'Great One' but The Rock quickly stood up and delivered one final impactful Rock Bottom and pinned him for the win.

The show ended with The Rock standing tall in the Sun Life stadium.

The Undertaker vs Triple H

One final time at WrestleMania

The duel between the duo at WM 28 was a gruelling 50-minute encounter where chairs, stairs, sledgehammers and the steel cell were all used to full advantage. The Undertaker was dominant throughout the match and HHH gave a tough fight.

Taker locked the Hell’s gate submission hold thrice in the match and HHH successfully broke the hold, not wanting to submit as he did at WM 27. Undertaker used all his signature moves on HHH in the first half of the match but HHH was resilient and never yielded to the Phenom.

The Game bounced back into the game by delivering a spine buster on the steel stairs and following it up with a few shots with the sledgehammer. HHH attempted to break the skull of the Phenom but Shawn Michaels’ repeated intrusions prevented that from happening.

Shawn delivered Sweet chin music to the Phenom and HHH followed it up with a Pedigree but The Undertaker kicked out of this vicious combo and came back strongly and delivered a Tombstone piledriver to HHH. The Game managed to save his game by kicking out at two and later mocked the Undertaker and gave him a taste of his own medicine.

Taker survived this and delivered one final Tombstone and won the match emphatically and went 20-0 at WrestleMania.
