Christian Cage inserts himself into the AEW World Title picture; The Inner Circle falls apart

AEW Revolution saw the debut of two new names for the company. First off, Ethan Page debuted in the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match and All-Ego looked set to make his singles debut for AEW tonight on Dynamite.

Christian Cage also debuted on Sunday, revealing that he was the mystery man Paul Wight was talking about last week. What does The Instant Classic have in store for AEW? Fans were set to hear from him on Dynamite as well.

There was also a lot of fallout to get to tonight. What would happen with The Inner Circle during their War Room? What was next for Sting?

All that, plus Darby Allin put the AEW TNT Championship on the line against Scorpio Sky, who won the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match at AEW Revolution. Could Sky knock off the daredevil tonight?

Rey Fenix w/PAC vs Matt Jackson w/Nick Jackson on AEW Dynamite

AEW Tag Team Champion Matt Jackson battled one of the No. 1 contenders Rey Fenix in the opening contest of AEW Dynamite. Fenix left Jackson shaken with his high-flying offense, forcing him to the floor several times.

A springboard crossbody to the floor was followed by a tope con hilo, leaving Matt Jackson out on the ground below. Back in the ring, Jackson and Fenix traded chops on the second rope, leading to Jackson countering a hurricanrana attempt with a sit-out powerbomb. Fenix kicked out and rushed to the floor to get some time to catch his breath.

Jackson took over here, focusing on the back of Fenix. The Executive VP of AEW looked for another powerbomb, but when it was countered he was able to transition into a Sharpshooter. Fenix made it to the ropes and rocked Jackson with a springboard spinning roundhouse kick and a missile dropkick. A spin-out facebuster planted Jackson for a two-count.

Fenix missed a tight rope walking penalty kick, and the AEW Tag Champion spiked him with a slingshot Canadian Destroyer. Another destroyer on the floor left Fenix out cold. PAC tried to wake him up and managed to get his partner in by the nine-count. Jackson connected with an elbow drop for the two.

Jackson avoided a basement dropkick, sending Fenix into Nick Jackson. PAC stood over him, leading to Matt superkicking PAC. Back in the ring, the competitors squared off. Jackson landed on his feet off of a German, rocking Fenix with two superkicks. Fenix caught Jackson with a kick as well before both men fell down, exhausted.

Fenix countered a Tombstone, dropping Jackson with one of his own to pick up a win in this fantastic AEW Dynamite opener.

Results: Rey Fenix defeated Matt Jackson via pinfall on AEW Dynamite.

Grade: B

At AEW Revolution, Eddie Kingston explained why he was out cold after covering Jon Moxley at the end of the exploding barbed wire deathmatch. Kingston said that plain and simple, the anxiety of the situation caused him to blackout. He and Moxley insulted the AEW World Champion for failing to create an exploding ring.

Moxley was upset about not seeing a bomb go off but was happy to have his drinking buddy back. The former AEW Champ said that if you're going to flash a weapon, you better use it. What do Mox and Kingston have in store for Omega and The Good Brothers?

Cody vs Seth Gargis on AEW Dynamite

The inaugural AEW TNT Champion slammed Seth Gargis in the middle of the mat with a running power slam. After that, the Figure-4 Leglock put him away. Cody won in quite a dominant fashion.

Results: Cody defeated Seth Gargis via submission on AEW Dynamite.

Grade: D

After the match, Tony Schiavone asked Cody about his shoulder. Before Cody could answer, they were interrupted by Penta El Zero Miedo, who claimed he was 1000x better than The American Nightmare. Penta and Cody were both in that ladder match at AEW Revolution, but ultimately short.

Penta called himself the Lord of Lucha Libre and claimed that if he was more focused on Cody, he'd be unable to pick up his newborn baby girl. That was enough for Cody, who rushed Penta. They were separated by security and AEW wrestlers, but it's clearly not over.

The Best Friends pleaded for another tag team match against Miro and Kip Sabian. If they lost, Chuckie T would be Miro's butler forever.

However, as far as what the match would be, they'd circle the ring in arcade machines, vowing to put their heads through every single one. Orange Cassidy ended the threat, promising to break Miro and Kip.

Tony Schiavone brought out Sting, who was successful in his street fight with Darby Allin against Team Taz at AEW Revolution. Sting stated that the AEW TNT Champion was a very dangerous man. Combine that with somebody like the Stinger? That's a guaranteed win.

Sting was interrupted by AEW's Murderhawk Monster, Lance Archer, who demanded his own time to talk. Archer and Jake Roberts threatened Sting before stating that Archer was the real face of AEW's revolution, and would begin taking what he wanted going forward.

"All-Ego" Ethan Page vs "Big Shotty" Lee Johnson w/QT Marshall on AEW Dynamite

During the AEW Revolution, "All-Ego" Ethan Page debuted in the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match. Though he was unsuccessful, he certainly impressed against some of the best AEW had to offer.

Page squared off against "Big Shotty" Lee Johnson in his singles debut, dominating him throughout most of the match. Throughout the commercial break, he focused on the back, hitting an elevated backbreaker on the floor and a great spinning kneeling backbreaker.

Lee caught the latest signee with a fantastic dropkick but was nearly taken out with a springboard cutter from Page. Ego's Edge finished the match-up, giving Page a dominant win in his debut on Dynamite.

Results: Ethan Page defeated Lee Johnson via pinfall on AEW Dynamite.

Grade: C

After the match, Page attacked Lee. QT Marshall didn't help him, instead deciding to walk away from the onslaught. Dustin Rhodes eventually made the save.

"Hangman" Adam Page defeated Matt Hardy at Revolution and was seen earlier riding around in his new lawnmower. The Dark Order came in to congratulate Page again, asking if there was room for more. Page took all of...well...most of them for ice cream on the lawnmower. There's a weight limit, after all.

Kenny Omega, Don Callis, and The Good Brothers speak after AEW Revolution

At AEW Revolution, Kenny Omega successfully defended the AEW World Championship against Jon Moxley. Tonight, Christian Cage was supposed to make a statement, but his segment was broken up by Kenny Omega, Don Callis, and the IMPACT Wrestling Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers.

Callis called Omega the King of Deathmatch and claimed that Sunday went according to plan. Well, not everything. However, they did love to take away that special moment from Tony Khan and the AEW fans. Not only that, but they took away Jon Moxley's dream of going out in a blaze of glory.

It was a win-win situation. Moxley and Eddie Kingston blow up or they look like complete idiots. Eddie Kingston made his way to the ring, and Callis decided to speak man-to-man with him. Callis said that he knew Kingston was a star when he was in IMPACT Wrestling. So why did he have to get fired? He always failed to grab the brass ring.

Callis then gave Kingston ten seconds to leave the ring before the AEW World Champion and IMPACT Tag Champs beat him down. Kingston didn't back down and rocked Omega with a big right hand.

The Good Brothers attacked Kingston, but he was saved by Jon Moxley. Omega was surprised by that shot as he struggled to make it to his feet.

Christian Cage's music hit, and the latest top AEW star finally made his debut on AEW Dynamite. Cage soaked in the glory before slowly making his way to Kenny Omega.

The AEW World Champion looked for a cheap shot but was nearly caught with an Unprettier. Callis saved Omega from certain doom but left the world title with Cage.

Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. w/Rebel, Nyla Rose w/Vickie Guerrerro, and Maki Itoh vs Ryo Mizunami, Thunder Rosa, and Hikaru Shida on AEW Dynamite

A fight broke out before Maki Itoh finished her special AEW Dynamite performance on the ramp, leading to her singing throughout the brawl. Hikaru Shida and Itoh started the bout off, with Maki missing her falling headbutt and immediately losing control.

Ryo Mizunami tagged in, battering Itoh with a series of chops. Itoh managed to reach former AEW Women's Champion Nyla Rose, with Mizunami tagging out to Thunder Rosa. Vickie Guerrero tripped up Rosa, giving Rose the upper hand before the commercial break. Rose, Britt Baker, and Itoh tore the former NWA World Women's Champion apart throughout the break.

Rosa finally made it to the corner, allowing Shida to suplex Mizunami onto Baker. Itoh tagged in but was demolished with a big clothesline. Rose was in next, only to be sent outside with a running dropkick.

After all the dust settled, Itoh spiked Rosa with a step-up tornado DDT. It wasn't enough, and Rosa spiked her with the Fire Thunder Driver.

Results: Thunder Rosa defeated Maki Itoh via pinfall on AEW Dynamite.

Grade: C

Britt Baker cracked Thunder Rosa with Rebel's crutch and locked in the Lockjaw while the rest of her team kept Rosa's partners down on the floor.

Backstage, Matt Hardy introduced Private Party to the newest members of their group, The Butcher, The Blade, and The Bunny. Hardy promised that they'd make The Dark Order pay for what they did to him.

AEW TNT Championship: Scorpio Sky vs Darby Allin (c)

The AEW TNT Champion offered the fist bump to his No. 1 contender, and Scorpio Sky obliged. Sky, already a champion being part of the inaugural AEW Tag Team Champions SCU, was eager to add another title to the trophy case.

Early on, Sky was flustered by Darby Allin's mat wrestling but managed to get in the match when Allin seemingly injured his ankle diving back into the ring. Sky nearly broke him in half with a pendulum backbreaker. Throughout the break, Scorpio worked over Darby with an octopus stretch.

Darby caught Sky going for a sunset flip, rolling him up for a close call. Scorpio kicked out and popped Darby right in the jaw with a right hand. The AEW TNT Champion responded with the Stundog Millionaire, following up with Code Red. Sky was barely able to kick out.

Sky dropped Darby with a nasty boot to the jaw, following up with a trio of German suplexes, with the third launching him head-first into the top turnbuckle. Darby sent Sky to the floor for a suicide dive, but Sky countered it in mid-air with a cutter. Back in the ring, Darby kicked out a two-and-a-half.

Sky countered Allin's Coffin Drop with a sit-out powerbomb. However, he couldn't get the win. When he went for his finish, Darby pulled out a victory roll, just barely escaping with the AEW TNT Title.

Results: Darby Allin defeated Scorpio Sky via pinfall on AEW Dynamite.

Grade: B+

After the match, Sky trapped Darby in a heel hook. It took several officials to break Sky away from Allin.

The Inner Circle War Council on AEW Dynamite

Former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho came out with The Inner Circle to hold the War Council, looking to figure out why things haven't been going their way as of late. Jericho looked to add someone to the group, while MJF wanted to kick somebody out.

Before they could get to that, AEW's Spanish God Sammy Guevara came to the stage. Jericho was furious and said that he was dead to The Inner Circle. Guevara had something to show Le Champion, though. What he had was footage of Santana, Ortiz, and Jake Hager conspiring with MJF to kick Jierch out of The Inner Circle.

MJF demanded that the other members attack Jericho, but they instead turned on MJF. Jericho promised that since he was the one to bring Max into the group, he'd be the one to kick him out. With that, they fired MJF and promised an "old school Inner Circle Beatdown."

MJF begged for his life before revealing he'd created his own group. The lights went out on AEW Dynamite, and when they came back up, FTR, Wardlow, Shawn Spears, and Tully Blanchard were in the ring. MJF allied himself with the new Four Horsemen! They demolished The Inner Circle while MJF sat on the top rope and admired his work.

After attacking Jericho with his own bat, MJF ordered Wardlow to throw the inaugural AEW World Champ through a table with a hellacious powerbomb.
