AEW Full Gear 2020 Predictions

The final AEW pay-per-view of 2020 is upon us. The second edition of Full Gear will take place on Saturday, Nov. 7 at Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Florida.

The card is stacked with nine bouts. The company has also teased a major debut and PAC's return appears to be imminent. While some of the matches have had an inconsistent build, the excellent match-ups and a fantastic go-home episode of Dynamite could lead to a banger.

Jon Moxley will once again defend his AEW World Championship against Eddie Kingston. The AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament will conclude at Full Gear when "Hangman" Adam Page takes on his former tag team partner Kenny Omega.

Darby Allin will get a shot at the TNT Championship. The Young Bucks will finally face off against FTR and Matt Hardy and Sammy Gueverra will settle their longstanding war. MJF will challenge the leader of The Inner Circle, Chris Jericho, for a chance to join the stable.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at how the AEW Full Gear 2020 could turn out.

NWA Women's World Championship Match - Serena Deeb (C) vs. Allysin Kay

The NWA Women's World Championship match has replaced Orange Cassidy vs. John Silver on the Buy-In before Full Gear. The latter got bumped up to the main card.

Deeb, an AEW signee, recently captured the title from Thunder Rosa and has already impressed in all of her Dynamite appearances. This will be her second title defense. Allysin Kay has become one of the hottest free agents in the business since she departed from NWA. Kay will be an interesting and formidable challenger for Deeb, as she held the NWA world women's title for 272 days.

This is apparently an exhibition match, the bout hasn't had any sort of build. Deeb just started her title reign and thus Kay is unlikely to dethrone the champ.

Orange Cassidy vs. John "4" Silver at Full Gear

Orange Cassidy vs. John Silver at Full Gear

Tony Khan confirmed on Busted Open Radio, that Orange Cassidy vs. John Silver moved from Buy-In to the Full Gear's main card. This contest's leap from the preshow was merited.

John Silver stands out as one of the more entertaining members of The Dark Order after prominent appearances on TV in recent months. Silver has maximized his screen time like nobody else over the past few months on Being the Elite or the Dark Order spots on AEW Dynamite.

Silver looks promising and is gradually turning into a potential breakout star. At Full Gear, he will get a chance to show out against another hilarious roster member, Orange Cassidy. Humour is highly subjective in pro-wrestling and can often be delivered poorly. Orange Cassidy has flourished into a major draw and his initial comedic act hasn't held him back.

The match has had very little build. Both Silver and Cassidy are excellent at working their shtick into matches without surrendering the standards of a professional wrestling match. Orange Cassidy is the bigger and more established star thus it's his match to lose. Cassidy will come out on top however Silver will emerge stronger from this.

The Elite Deletion at Full Gear - Matt Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara

This feud is picking back up where it left off with plenty of leftover tension between Matt Hardy and Sammy Guevara. The Elite Deletion match at Full Gear will likely be their blow-off match.

The pair haven't had the best of luck as their match at All Out 2020 was cut short after Hardy suffered an injury. The Broken Rules match is considered one of the low points of AEW's first year. During this encounter, Guevara bloodied Hardy with a chair shot before he inadvertently banged his head against the concrete in an uncomfortable spot.

All Out's Tooth and Nail match was AEW's first foray into cinematic wrestling since the Stadium Stampede. There's no doubt that AEW will be conscious of the former's reception as the Elite Deletion as they put this one together. Though Matt Hardy's experience in this realm leaves plenty of room for optimism.

Hardy's last Deletion was with WWE when Bray Wyatt visited the Hardy Compound in March 2018. Based on Matt’s previous specialty matches at his home, this bout will likely be a pre-taped affair. As the build-up suggests this match will most likely feature brawling and the use of outside hardware.

Considering all the sufferings Hardy has gone through during the course of the feud, it only makes sense for him to pick up the ultimate win for a satisfactory conclusion to the storyline at Full Gear.

AEW Women's World Championship Match at Full Gear - Hikaru Shida (C) vs. Nyla Rose

Before the go-home show ahead of Full Gear, AEW devoted just three minutes of screentime (more than 2 minutes of that were on Dark) to building the women's title bout. This sums up AEW women's division's first year in a nutshell and provides further ammunition for its critics.

The Native Beast has received a title shot due to the rankings system, solidifying that revolutionary mechanism. Nevertheless, Hikaru Shida and Nyla Rose have existing personal issues from their strong hardcore brawl at Double Or Nothing earlier this year where Shida captured the gold. Shida has been a dominant champion, while Rose has been the monster heel waiting to get her hands on the top prize.

Despite a minimal build and normal stipulations, the match at Full Gear will likely deliver. The Full Metal Champion is the most well-rounded in-ring female performer in the company and Rose delivers when paired with the right opponent.

Rose will fancy her chances, particularly with Vickie Guerrero by her side. Though there’s still some steam left in Shida as the face of the women's division, so we are predicting she will retain against Rose in this rematch. Britt Baker increasingly feels like the person that will dethrone Shida and she is primed to hold the belt until the Doctor comes calling.

AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament Final at Full Gear - Kenny Omega vs. "Hangman" Adam Page

This big match at Full Gear had to be Kenny Omega vs. Adam Page. If there will be any memorable storyline from the maiden year of Dynamite, it's Page and Omega's rollercoaster friendship and their eventual split. Fans have been fantasy booking Kenny Omega vs. Hangman Page ever since they joined forces to form a tag team.

One epic division-defining reign later, we get to a match to determine the number one contender for the AEW world title. Everyone always assumed AEW would pull the trigger and one of them would turn on the other. First, it was Page, whose issues with the rest of The Elite started to boil over before his babyface turn made that impossible. Then, Omega continuously teased the return of The Cleaner.

In recent weeks, Omega has reverted to his unhinged persona and unleashed The Cleaner. He looks more focused and absolutely unstoppable. In contrast, Page still harbors some love towards his former-partner and seems hung up on their break-up.

With Jon Moxley vs. Omega marked as the big-money program for Revolution, The Cleaner will prevail here. Either man would be a solid challenger for Moxley, but Page feels like he needs another year or two before he enters the title picture. Omega seems like the most logical choice to dethrone Moxley and reassert himself as The Best Bout Machine at Full Gear.

There will be some sort of shenanigans involved with Omega turning to full heel mode, inflicting pain on Page in the most vicious way possible. This will also benefit Page as he will look credible in defeat.

Chris Jericho vs. MJF at Full Gear

At Full Gear, MJF will gain access to the most exclusive club in professional wrestling, The Inner Circle, with a victory over the group's leader, Chris Jericho. As with other stipulations on this card, this sets up the direction for the match.

AEW's purest heel has made his intentions to join The Inner Circle clear. Over the past few weeks, he gifted the group personalized bomber jackets, butted heads with Sammy Guevara, and answered some hard-hitting questions at a Townhall meeting.

Chris Jericho and MJF's recent segments have been thoroughly entertaining. Le Dinner Debonair turned out to be one of the most memorable segments in wrestling history. Then, Jericho made it clear to his younger counterpart that he’ll let him join the stable if he overcomes him in this first-time matchup at Full Gear. MJF has stayed true to his claim that he is willing to go to any extent to best his veteran competition by charging towards the commentary box and tackling Jericho on the go-home episode of Dynamite.

There are a lot of storyline possibilities here following Full Gear. If MJF wins this, he can join The Inner Circle or he can decide not to join, leading to a full-blown feud. While If Jericho goes over on Saturday, MJF can take his heel character to the next level and en route to a full-blown feud.

The best way to go forward is to give MJF the win and align him with the group as it opens up several mouthwatering possibilities. The rest of his stablemates aren’t MJF's biggest admirers and will likely try to prevent him from winning at Full Gear. As a member of The Inner Circle, a victory to hold over their leader will give AEW better stories to tell. MJF could eventually spark an Inner Circle break down the road as the stable has started to look like it has run its course.

TNT Championship Match at Full Gear - Cody vs. Darby Allin

This is one of the tougher matches to call on the card for Full Gear as it can go either way. Darby Allin vs. Cody has been a solid rivalry over the past year.

Once again, AEW's ultimate babyface will lock horns with the promotion’s enigmatic daredevil. This time, the championship gold will be on the line. Each of their matches has been memorable thanks to Cody’s willingness to match Allin’s high-risk mindset and Darby’s ability to take a ton of damage from his stronger foe.

Cody overcame a plethora of challenges during his first reigns as AEW TNT Champion until his loss to Brodie Lee in August. Since his return from hiatus, Cody quickly regained the TNT Championship when he defeated Lee and overcame Orange Cassidy. Allin has seen his stock skyrocket ever since he joined AEW and his huge win over "Absolute" Ricky Starks has kept him in the title mix.

Cody even teased a turn to the dark side, ditching his trademark blonde hair but it was short-lived. Allin looks like the guy to root for going into Saturday as arrogance crept into Cody's closing promo in the go-home episode of Dynamite ahead of Full Gear.

Allin came closer than ever to unseat Cody in their last clash. He lost because his more seasoned opponent pinned his shoulders to the mat after a Coffin Drop. This time,Allin will be a sharper and more refined challenger who has learned from his past mistakes. It's high time AEW pulled the trigger on Allin. We are picking him to finally overcome Cody in a hotly contested bout at Full Gear. A title win here would push him to the upper echelons of the promotion. Cody’s position within the company won’t take much of a hit with a single loss and he can fully embrace the dark side after the loss.

AEW Tag Team Championship Match at Full Gear - FTR (C) vs. The Young Bucks

The biggest dream tag team match of the generation is finally set to unfold this Saturday at Full Gear. The ace duos social media interactions before the match was even possible are well storied. The clash of styles between both teams presents an interesting dynamic for their title match. Fans will finally see how FTR's old-school style will fare against The Young Bucks' flashy high-flying approach.

FTR has coasted through most of the company's tag division since its arrival in May. The Young Bucks earned a shot at the AEW world tag team titles, winning a Fatal Four-Way tag team match on Dynamite. Mere moments after their victory, the reigning champs assaulted the Bucks. FTR left Matt Jackson in a really bad state as they crushed his leg with a chair. Matt's injury doesn't appear to have hindered his performances to date.

A key part of the story heading into the much-anticipated bout involves the Bucks' ability to challenge for the tag titles again after Full Gear. The stipulation dictates a sense of predictability as AEW will be reluctant to do a repeat of Cody losing his world title match under the same stipulation. The result seems like a foregone conclusion unless we get a major swerve. Despite who comes out on top in the end, the fans will be the real winners of this one.

Pick: The Young Bucks win the tag titles

AEW World Championship "I Quit Match" for Full Gear - Jon Moxley (C) Vs Eddie Kingston

Kingston's participation in major pay-per-view main event is a dream come true for many wrestling fans. Few real-life wrestling stories have been as heartwarming as the rise of the New Yorker in 2020. After grinding on the independent circuit for 18 long years and watching every one of his closest friends and colleagues get signed to major promotions, the 38-year-old is about to fight for a world title at Full Gear.

Kingston has been a constant highlight of AEW programming ever since he showed up to take on Cody for the TNT Championship. The man has enthralled the viewers with his heartfelt promos, built a stable of four, and managed to insert himself into the world title picture.

In his first match with Moxley, Kingston succumbed and passed out to the reigning champion’s Bulldog Choke. Afterward, Kingston insisted that he never tapped out and he was granted another shot at the world title in an "I Quit" Match at Full Gear. Jon Moxley has held AEW's top prize since he pinned the inaugural champion, Chris Jericho, at Revolution. So far, Moxley has successfully battled off names including Brodie Lee, MJF, Brian Cage, and Lance Archer. However, Eddie Kingston presents a totally different challenge for the champion.

Both former indie darlings have done an outstanding job of hyping up this match on the microphone. The build heading into the clash at Full Gear has been emotional, authentic, raw, hard-hitting, and rugged as the competitors themselves have been. Both men have it in them to go the distance and their brutal hardcore wrestling styles indicate an all-out war. With the "I Quit" stipulation, there will be some stunning levels of brutality.

This is a no-brainer, Moxley will surely retain. He will hold onto the belt until the next pay-per-view, where he could be pinned on to face Kenny Omega.
