Could Tony Khan have tried to sign this former RAW Women's Champion?

AEW President Tony Khan has already acquired many former WWE Superstars, but according to Dave Meltzer, he believes that the promotion once made an offer to Mercedes Moné.

Her run in WWE as Sasha Banks shot Mercedes to a level of stardom that has now made her one of the most praised women's wrestlers in the world. After she parted ways with WWE, many believed that Tony Khan would sign her immediately but at this stage she has yet to appear in any of his promotions.

According to speculation from Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Tony Khan likely approached Mercedes Moné with an offer after her time in WWE.

"But, you know AEW must have made her a good offer, that’s just common sense. And she didn’t take it, whatever that reason is, that’s in her head. But the thing with AEW is if you take that offer the minimum they’re gonna take you for is three years, and that’s three years with no WWE. And I don’t know if that was something that she didn’t want to do." (20:26 onward).

Moné, unfortunately, suffered a broken ankle this weekend after facing Willow Nightingale at NJPW Resurgence. The star recently broke her silence after the ordeal and made it clear that she intends to return soon.

According to Dave Meltzer, many are urging Tony Khan to debut Mercedes Moné at AEW Collision

According to reports, Tony Khan is having issues with CM Punk again, and the star might not return during the promotion's upcoming show. In light of this, many people have urged Khan to sign Mercedes Moné to debut instead.

During the same episode, Meltzer explained the likelihood of the promotion bringing Mercedes in to replace CM Punk.

"If she’s got a broken ankle – not that that’s catastrophic or long term, but she’s a free agent and can go anywhere. So, if that’s the case, then she’s not constricted contractually like in her release with WWE. She’s not contractually not allowed to go to AEW." (20:00 onward).

It remains to be seen if she will be signed by the promotion or make a once-off appearance, but it seems that there is interest in seeing Mercedes Moné in All Elite Wrestling.
