“Kareem Abdul-Jabbar got traded, Patrick Ewing got traded” - Michael Jordan’s longtime agent says very few players are not tradeable, believes Celtics won’t tear up team for Kevin Durant

Michael Jordan’s longtime agent, David Falk, believes the Boston Celtics will not break up their squad to trade for Kevin Durant.

Durant requested a trade out of Brooklyn earlier in the offseason and the Celtics are reportedly one of the teams interested in signing the two-time champion. However, they will have to part with a number of players in order to land Durant.

On Sirius XM, David Falk stated that breaking up the core of the squad for one player does not make sense.

Falk outlined:

“First of all, I think there are very few players in the entire league that are not tradeable. I mean, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar got traded. Patrick Ewing got traded.”

“Kevin Durant, you know, is Kevin Durant, and I think people will do special things to acquire a player of that caliber. What I don’t think the Celtics will do is tear up the team and the chemistry they have, you know, in an attempt to make a trade.”
Will the Celtics trade for Kevin Durant?

Kevin Durant is easily one of the best players in the league at the moment. Whichever team that hopes to sign him will have to sacrifice a large portion of their roster, as well as future draft picks.

The Boston Celtics have enough players and future picks to land the two-time Finals MVP. But considering they got close to winning a championship last season, it's unlikely they will shake up the squad too much.

Are Boston capable of competing for another championship without Kevin Durant?

Boston have developed a strong core of Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart. They came close to winning the title last season, losing 4-2 to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.

If Durant moved to Boston, the team would become instant favorites. KD and Tatum on the same team would be lethal. The problem with that is that the Celtics would have to give up far too much, impacting their bench strength and roster depth. This is not something they would be willing to do.

MJ’s longtime agent is probably correct in saying that Boston will not make a move for Durant.
