“Every time he makes a pit stop, s**t gets f**ked up” – Matt Barnes asserts Kyrie Irving is an ‘issue’ for teams

Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks are attempting to get back on track with the regular season winding down. After being acquired from the Brooklyn Nets at the NBA's trade deadline, Dallas has struggled with their play on the court.

Irving remains one of the most talented point guards in the entire league. But his antics off the court have started to become a bigger storyline.

After having an impressive first half of the season with the Nets, Irving demanded a trade from the organization. That's when the Dallas Mavericks gambled, making a trade to acquire the star floor general.

On paper, Irving has continued to produce at a high level for the Mavericks. In 16 games, he has averaged 26.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game.

He's also shooting 50.0% from the field and 38.8% from three-point range. But that hasn't translated to wins. Dallas has won just four of the last ten games in which Irving has played.

Appearing on Showtime Basketball's "What's Burnin," former NBA veteran Matt Barnes gave his blunt opinion when it came to Kyrie. He stated that there's no denying how talented Irving is, but admitted that every time Kyrie ends with a new team "s*** gets f***** up."

He said:

“Is it a coincidence that every time he goes to a team there’s dysfunction?” he asked. “… It just seems like everywhere Kyrie goes, there is an issue. Now that could be a coincidence, or it could be that Kyrie is the issue."

He added:

"Again, as great a talent he is, a top-five talent no doubt, but just seems like every time he makes a pit stop, s— gets f—– up. … It’s not hard to draw that kind of conclusion.”

Time is running out for the Dallas Mavericks to make a push towards the playoffs in the 2022-23 NBA season. The hope is that Kyrie Irving and the Mavericks can quickly get back on track.

Dallas finds themselves with a 37-39 overall record. The team has won just three of their last ten games and are trending in the wrong direction. Heading into Wednesday night's game, Dallas finds itself in eleventh place in the Western Conference standings.

Kyrie Irving on Luka Doncic: "The kind of nitpicking of judgment of what's going on when someone says 'I'm having human emotions' and then it goes to 'Who's to blame?' And then it starts pointing fingers... That's the aspect that I don't enjoy about this sport at all."

That would place them just outside of a potential play-in tournament game, where anything can happen between Kyrie Irving and fellow superstar Luka Doncic.

The good news for Dallas is that just two games separates them from the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are currently in seventh place.

The team has just six games remaining on their regular season schedule. They will have to focus on taking care of business on Wednesday night as they head to Philadelphia for a road matchup with the 76ers.
