4 Wonderkids in Cricket currently

Prithvi Shaw's hundred against West Indies showed that, in cricket, age is indeed just a number. It showed that no matter how young a player is, he can show maturity, compete at the highest level, and perform against the top players in the world. Further, Prithvi Shaw is not the only teenager showcasing this; in fact, there are several others, around the world, showing that at a very young age, they can dominate at the highest level.

The latest addition to Pakistan's never-ending production line of impressive fast bowlers, Shaheen Afridi, in a short span of time, has shown himself to be one of the premier young stars in the world. He initially made his name after picking up 8/39 in an innings on first class debut, and since then, his stock has only risen.

In the PSL, despite being lacklustre, he produced one of the finest T20 spells of all time, taking 5/4 in an innings, and since then, he has gone on to make his international debut. Despite having played only a handful of games at the international level, he has impressed one and all with his pace, hostility, and aggression, particularly in the recently concluded Asia Cup.

Sandeep Lamichhane, the young man who is carrying Nepal cricket onto the global stage, has already made waves. Not only has he consistently dominated in Nepal's matches against other Associate Nations - having picked up 50 wickets in merely 24 List A matches - but he has also performed well in T20 leagues.

Picked up by the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL, he only got to play three matches, and that too towards the end of the tournament. However, in all those three matches, he showed that he belonged on that stage, picking up 5 wickets at an economy rate of 6.83. He then had a stint with the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League, where he picked up 7 wickets in 5 matches, at an exemplary economy rate of 6.23.

Despite having played a limited number of games on the world stage, Sandeep has shown that he is ready and will become a star not only in Associate cricket but in the global stage as well.

The young man whose brilliant performance inspired this article, Prithvi Shaw has made waves this year. Followers of Mumbai cricket have been observing this young man since his school cricketing days; followers of Indian cricket have been observing him since his ton on Ranji Trophy debut in 2016; however, it is this year that the eyes of the world turned towards this young man.

At the start of the year, he captained the India U-19 to an emphatic Under-19 World Cup victory, and was picked up by the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL auction. In the IPL, he showcased his eye-catching strokeplay and performed against the best in the world. Finally, based on his heroics in the IPL, run-making in domestic and 'A' cricket, and immense potential, he was handed his Test debut in Rajkot.

Having already got a hundred on Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy debut, he continued the trend, stroking his way to one of the finest hundreds on Test debut - and with that, he showed the cricketing world that he could become a household name in the years to come.

#1 Mujeeb ur Rahman

Arguably the finest teen cricketer in the world, Mujeeb ur Rahman has shown skill and maturity above and beyond what is expected of a 17-year-old. He initially came into the limelight after bamboozling batsmen and taking bags of wickets in the Under-19 Asia Cup and World Cup, and now, a mere few months later, he is one of the premier spinners in the world.

Mujeeb, who is a 'mystery spinner' in every sense of the phrase, has already had impressive stints in the IPL in India (14 wickets in 11 matches at an economy rate of 6.99) and the T20 Blast in England (9 wickets in 12 matches at an economy rate of 7.09). Further, he has done exceptionally well at the international stage, having taken 44 wickets in 23 ODIs at an economy rate 0f 3.84 and 9 wickets in 7 T20Is at an economy rate of 5.07.

He, along with compatriot Rashid Khan (who recently turned 20, making him ineligible for this list), is putting Afghanistan on the cricketing map, and making them into one of the premier teams in the world.
