Clash of Clans: An Overview

Developed and published by Finish Company; ‘Supercell’, ‘Clash Of Clans’ is a massive online multiplayer game which was first released in the year 2012 for iOS and subsequently in 2013 for Android platforms.Clash of Clans is an online strategy game in which players must build a community, fill up the storages, train troops, and raid other players’ villages to gather more elixir and gold. This loot is then used towards building defensive structures for protection against other players' attacks and to train and upgrade troops so as to build towards a stronger offense.

This game also features a pseudo single player campaign mode in which the user must attack a series of fortified goblin villages for collecting additional loot.

One Step at a Time:

Players must start by creating a village, giving it a name and complete a few training objectives till they are able to build a Clan Castle. The Clan Castle connects the user to the world of other CoC players. This is a community-based game and hence each player either joins or creates a ‘Clan’.

Within the clan there is a hierarchy amongst members starting with the Leader at the top, followed by Co-leaders who perform and control almost the same powers as that of the leader, Elders come in next and then comes the basic entry level Members.

Clans fortify their war bases and go to war with other clans. Winners are then decided according to the maximum stars obtained. These stars are obtained by defeating the members of the opposition clan in battle. 1 star for 50% destruction, 1 more for destroying the ‘Town Hall’ and the third for destroying 100% of the enemy’s base.

Clash On: The creative team at Supercell has always been proactive, regularly bringing in updates and treats for users. Through a recent update, the clan is able to mark its progress as an entity and also has achievements to reach and perks to unlock. Each level up of the clan enables the members to enjoy clan perks which come in the form of faster request times, cheaper troop donations, more loot etc.

Although it takes slightly longer than desirable for buildings to upgrade and for troops to be made, it's not an excessive bore. It gives you time to explore around and think about how you want to move forward. But when you want to just get on with your strategies, it can be a bit painful.

Overlooking such minor gripes, Clash of Clans is a superb game. Be it a freemium or otherwise, it’s got more than most give it credit for which is why it has passed the test of time since its launch and still has a large active community devoted to building an invincible empire.

Clash of Clans has become one of the most popular games to be trending this long. It's free, it's easy to get and a superb example of how freemium games should be working.
