5 Records Ronaldo has already set while at Juventus

In one of the most blockbuster stories of the summer, Ronaldo traded the all-white of Real Madrid for the black and white stripes of Juventus in a record-breaking deal which not many foresaw.

The Portuguese has been a prime performer for the entirety of his career, and attempting to extol him would be an exercise in futility, as any words used to describe him would almost feel redundant or cliche as the dictionary has run out of adjectives to quantify the Portuguese legend.

Ronaldo has been a record breaker wherever he has set foot, from his early flair days at United right onto his more professional pattern at Real Madrid and with his national team of Portugal, and even though many scoffed at the amount Juventus paid to get the services of a 33-year-old who was seen to be past his prime, the move has already begun to reap dividends both on and off the pitch.

Cristiano is the ultimate professional, working harder than everybody else in a bid to maintain his fitness, and his hard work has paid off immensely as, despite his advancement in age, he still continues to terrorize defenses,

He currently has 11 goals in the Serie A from 16 matches to sit top of the scorer's charts and looks on course to become the first man in history to win a Golden Boot in England, Italy and Spain.

Ronaldo has been setting and breaking records throughout his career, and he has continued that trend barely six months into his Juve journey. In this piece, we take a look at four milestones which Ronaldo has attained at Juventus.

#4 Fastest player in Juventus history to score 10 goals in his debut season

Despite starting his Juventus career rather slowly (by his lofty standards) - not scoring for his first four matches for the Bianconerri, Ronaldo finally opened his Juve account in the game against Sassuolo on matchday 4 and since then he has not looked back.

He scored seven goals over his next 10 Serie A matches, and with his opener in the 2-0 victory over SPAL in November, Ronaldo moved onto 10 goals for Juventus in all competitions (with nine coming in the league and one in the UCL).

Incredibly, it took him just 16 matches to do so, which meant he was the fastest player in Juventus history to achieve that milestone.

By contrast, legendary Juventus strikers such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic (30 matches), David Trezeguet (29), Gonzalo Higuain (20 matches), Filippo Inzaghi (18) needed more matches to notch up 10 goals for the Old Lady of Turin.

#4 The player to score Juve's 5,000th Serie A goal

Juventus are by far the most successful Italian club of all time, with their 34 Scudetti won being the highest won by any club in history, with second place being some way off.

In addition, they have won each of the last seven Serie A titles consecutively, including the double in each of the last four seasons as they dominate the Italian football landscape in a manner not seen before.

They look on course to retain their title as they maintain a healthy 11 point gap atop the standings, and have made the best ever start to a Serie A campaign, with their point total of 46 after 16 matches the highest ever registered at this stage in Serie A history.

The Bianconerri have had some of the greatest players in history represent them, and it, therefore, comes as no surprise that they are the highest goalscorers in Italian league history.

They netted their 5,000th Serie A goal in the 1-0 victory over Torino in the Turin derby, and no club is close to matching that figure yet.

It was perhaps fitting that such a landmark goal should be scored in a landmark fixture and there is no other man for such occasions than the Juventus #7.

Ronaldo scored the only goal of a keenly contested Turin derby from the penalty spot to move him onto 11 goals to top the Serie A scorers chart and don't bet against him being around for the next milestone (6,000?)

#3 First player to score 400 league goals in Europe's top five leagues

When Ronaldo departed Manchester United in 2009, he was just a skillful winger who was perceived as arrogant and more interested in vanity and grooming himself.

At Real Madrid however, he morphed into a cold-blooded and ruthless finisher more interested in getting the job done than any other thing (perhaps due to his direct rivalry with Messi).

The shenanigans and showboating were replaced with an unquenchable thirst for goals, with the result being that Ronaldo was forged into arguably the greatest goalscorer the game has ever seen.

He departed the Bernabeu as the prestigious club's all-time record goalscorer, with a score chart reading 450 goals in just 438 matches in all competitions at a staggering ratio of over a goal per game.

With his goal in the 1-1 draw with Genoa on matchday 8 of the 2018/2019 Serie A season, Ronaldo took his career total to 403 league goals, making him only the fifth player in European club football history to achieve that feat behind Uwe Seeler (406), Jimmy McGory (410), Ferenc Puskas (514) and Josef Bican with 519 goals. Although he has overtaken Uwe Seeler and is currently one goal behind McGory to move joint-third on the list.

Looking deeper, he is the first player in history to score 400 league goals in Europe's 'Big Five' leagues (if you exclude his goals with Sporting), as the aforementioned players scored some of their goals in lesser leagues.

The breakdown of his goals shows that three came with Sporting CP, 84 with Manchester United, 311 for Real and he currently has 11 for Juventus.

#2 Joint-fastest player in Juventus history to reach 10 league goals

Four Serie A matches in and when Ronaldo was yet to score his first Juventus goal, the tongues started wagging and banter was made about how he was past his prime and not worth the amount Juve paid to get him.

However, trust Ronaldo to have the last laugh as he has done throughout his career shaming his detractors and critics and he did so in some style, scoring 10 goals in his next 10 Serie A matches to take him to double figures by the time matchday 14 rolled around.

In doing so, the Portuguese record goalscorer became the first man to score 10 Serie A goals in their first 14 matches since the great Welsh and Juventus legend John Charles did so in 1957/1958 exactly sixty years ago.

#1 First player to win 100 Champions League matches

With 122 goals, Ronaldo is the all-time record goalscorer in the Champions League, and earlier on became the first man in history to score 100 Champions League goals with one club (a feat now shared with Messi).

His extra human performances on the continent have been immensely crucial to Real Madrid winning each of the last three UCL titles consecutively, as Ronaldo always found a way to lift himself on the biggest stages to deliver the goods for his team.

It is for this reason that he earned himself the moniker 'Mr. Champions League' and Juventus would be grateful to no longer have to come up against him, having felt the wrath of his boot on 10 occasions (which is the most he has scored against any opponent in the competition).

It, therefore, should not come as a surprise to anybody that till date he remains the only man to have tasted 100 Champions League victories, with the icon achieving the milestone in Juve's 1-09 victory over Valencia.

As expected, Ronaldo could not let such a momentous occasion pass him by without stamping his authority (even though he was not on the scoresheet) setting up Mandzukic for the only goal of the game and as long as he is in their ranks, Juventus would fancy their chances of ending their long drought in the competition where Ronald has reigned supreme.
